Cyberpunk 2077! Who Should Take The Blame? Sony and Microsoft!

In this video I discuss the news about Cyberpunk 2077. Sony PlayStation removed Cyberpunk from the PlayStation store and are offering refund for who ever downloaded the digital copy of the game. This came out in a glitchy state and it is almost unplayable. On top of that, it was downgraded from what was originally promised.

I discuss who is really to blame in this situation. There are steps that takes place before a game goes gold. Find out who I think needs just as much blame as CD Project Red.

  2. The hardware of the base PS4 and XBOX was already on the road of being outdated when it came out, plus for a game like cyberpunk especially with its level of detail and the exhausting amount of events happing in a particular scene is also to be considered as well!

There are 2 sides to be blamed in this case. Yes it is also CD's fault for not showing the base gameplay but come on as a game dev yourself you might agree with me Hector, it is a lot to ask for these old systems. They should have released it for the newer editions of the consoles while making it clear on which edition it runs on.

The second blame is what you mention and yes I agree with what you have said.

I just want this game to do well, especially with their hardwork. I feel that the marketing department should be held accountable for this painful launch. I don't think any game programmer or any programmer in general would want to release their game if it has bugs like what cyberpunk has.

  3. Fallout 76 and no man's sky were both as buggy if not MORE than cyberpunk IMO so I don't buy that Sony is protecting themselves and their customers by delisting Cyberpunk. It seems more like corporate retaliation for having the refund onus pushed on them and the negative attention it generated for SIE.

As for Cyberpunk, the game is definitely buggy and nowhere near complete but I think the bait and switch CDPR pulled with the last gen consoles is a much bigger issue and the blame should definitely be on them.

  4. I understand what you are saying, but I have to disagree. Coming from an IT Applications Admin, when there is a game or application to be put in Production (distributed to retailers), it’s the developers responsibility to make sure that this application is working properly for the user. First, they should develop then test. Then do a user/player test on all platforms you want the game to be made on (Sony, Microsoft, PC) and make sure you have no bugs that will have major impact, before you put it in production. I don’t believe that Sony or Microsoft should be the ones to test, as it is the major responsibility of the developer to finalize a product before you make it available, then Sony and Microsoft can put it on the market. If it’s rushed, it’s the developer’s fault, not really Sony or Microsoft. If an application is not ready, or a user test fails, then the developer must delay it.
