Most of these changes are positive, but I'm unsure how I feel about there being almost nothing to pick up, and level scaling being enforced now. Thanks for the summary Mort.
I usually like to play rpgs in a deleveled fashion, but keeping some consistency to the setting. In skyrim I just go full AD&D but I implement resistances, weaknesses and locational damage. In Fallout the deleveling is tied to the armor and weapons a faction uses, but Hp is static and bleeding can occur. As for cyberpunk, the best approach is really to level the entire world (as opposed to skyrim and fallout) and bump up some particular enemies, because it didnt made any sense that you could throw 5 rockets at a valentino with a tank top and he could still be standing, while you looked like a terminator but could be messed up by a single shot from a pistol.
Of course, that means that as you level the whole world will become increasingly harder, which I expect to translate only to the damage and armor charts and not to equipment, so we dont end up seeing hobos using advanced gear.
Great review.
As great as the game is in its curent state still think people forget way to fast how hyped the game was by the developers. The game will never be what they promised here. Even though. They really turned it around and I respect that. Its a good game now. But I wish people would be more sceptical about it because I am not shure if the Developers learned from it.
They should rename the "cool" tree to "john wick" in 2.0, since now it encompasses stealth, handguns, knives, sniper rifles and mitigation lol. I like that it frees me from having to invest in reflexes and I can focus on hacking + assassination and dump around 9 points in tech in the early game just to make basic cyberware usable.
Why don't they just make wanted levels pop up depending on how many NPCs hear the gunshot and how far they are.
Never completed 2077 on release but am excited to play it now with the new update and a system capable of ultra settings.
Only now does it sound to me like the game is finished.
I did a netrunner build my first go through, and with all the good decks being level restricted it felt pretty uninteresting until the end of the game. Then I could just delete armies by looking at them lol. Might have to do another netrunner playthrough when I get the time.
2.0 is great. Nearly all the annoying design and conceptual (?) decisions from the previous versions were improved on or completely revamped for the better. It’s almost like they read my personal list of grievances with the game to appease me personally.
It took them a long while but CDPR finally got Cyberpunk to the quality I knew they were capable of.
And we still have PL to look forward to!
My early game experience has been so frustrating in 2.0. Weapon Mods are now permanent, no overwriting and replacing them. I’ve spent hours of gameplay searching for a pistol with a mod slot. I finally found one after hours of grinding and attached what I had on me before I found a pax to buy. Well I bought the pax and I cannot attach it. Now I’ve played another three plus hours without finding another gun like it. About 7 hours of gameplay and I still don’t have the gun I need for my progression
Driving around to every gun store, looting every enemy in sight, I just can’t find the gun I need. I haven’t even completed the flathead mission and I have 100k Eddies
I've waited a long time and bit my nails for a while in anticipation but today is my first introduction to Night City 😎. Wish me luck 👍
I just started playing 2 weeks ago. Put 15 hrs in and then this update felt so different. Some of the side quests I had going disappeared. So weird having the game change mid way through playing.
Loot scales with your level? So if there's a gun you know you want dont loot it until you are max level or…..
The thing I'm mostly upset about is I own this on ps4
Biggest issue with the game (and I feel the update didn't do much to change it) is that it's a bit too easy. Was playing on hard and since the update, I'm flush with cash even though I buy all the best gear, and the combat is really, really easy. Granted, I like playing melee generally in these games so I know I'm missing out on the gun play.
Few bugs already spotted. On PC, all key prompts are for controller, even though i don't have controller connected. Some key binds cannot be changed, and thus are hard binded.
On Steam Deck, these things work, because you can't really rebind keys and you use controller, but on the deck, I can't call my vehicle.
Still, the changes are good, and I actually like them. The game feels better now than it did before.
I know Borderlands and CP2077 are two different games but I believe if CDPR leans into the looter shooter aspect a bit more with this game (or Cyberpunk 2) they'd be able to rival Borderlands.
I was explaining to my friend that “hard mode” is more like realistic mode where “very hard” is more of a challenge mode. If you want a challenge that will force you to get good or think the game is too easy bump up that difficulty
The new lighting is so good, game looks gorgeous, almost pre rendered at times
I like anything and everything they have done… BUT I am a bit concerned that you cant get as many perk points as you used to get before the update.
You used to have all of the 5 attribute trees split into 3 or 2 different skill trees like cool tree was split into ninjutsu and cold blood. Then you would get 6 or 7 perk points just by levelling each of those skill trees to the max… so you could easily get more than 100 total perk points in a playthrough. But now all those perk point have been split into just was it 5 skill trees and can get only 2 skill points from each so you can get maybe around 50 fewer perk point than you used to… which feels bad😐
Maybeh there are other ways to get more perk point in the game which I have not just encountered yet like those skill shards but what I have seen they just give more skill xp and not perk points.
Another CDPR, How to kill your fps update
I had a 5 star wanted level I just ducked behind a crate tell it went away kinda lame.
II do appreciate the three years worth of patches I still don't think it's ever going to live up to that initial promise of being the ultimate sci-fi RPG. I remember them saying there would be very deep faction and reputation systems, and that you could walk into a bar and have a whole chain of events play out based on your character and choices. Wasn't there also supposed to be some sort of detailed Bounty Hunter system? I'll probably be revisit at some point but it still seems more like an open-world action game rather than some sort of immersive RPG.
I bought it at launch and never finished it and I glad I waited before I did. I startrd a new game and its sooo much better. Its legitimately a great game now
I’m sure they nuked my contagion build haha
I had a fun experience with the car combat. I secured evidence for the NCPD, droce off into a tunnel and suddenly i saw a car spweding towards mw and shooting. It was the people from the gang i just massacred. I didn't expect situation like this so it made me quite immersed
Enemies and items scaling with your level sucks so much in RPGs, I can't say enough about how much I hate this type of design.
This looks so fun now (and I loved it after release on PC too). Reinstalling as I type and feeling hyped 🤘🏻
I waited three years to finally play this game, and I gotta say I am straight up addicted right now. I cannot stop playing. So glad I waited and didn’t play on launch.
I kind of like the NCPD being somewhat inconsistent.
Ultimately they are quite corrupt. So them being like "well this looks like not my problem/ i got bribed not to interfere" seems very on brand for them.
I agree with most observations. Shame they nerfed sandevistan.
CD PR getting a lot of good faith back with this. They fixed a lot of the initial issue of 2077 already but now they went ahead and made genuine sweeping upgrade to the game for free (or rather funded by the ones going for the DLC). I'd say they're back in the good graces IF the DLC launch goes well and doesn't require it's own year long cycle of bug fixes. Else they end up somewhere dangerously close to Bethesda
This is probably my favorite new channel. One of the things that has irked me for years with Youtube is the lack of PC gaming content that puts focus on the games. Currently, if you type "pc gaming" or "pc gaming reviews" in the search bar, you're going to get 95% results talking about hardware, cases, video cards and all that stuff – which isn't a bad thing. But if you want to find more content exclusively devoted to the games, well, PCGamer is going to be most of what you see. And that establishment is sort of meh tbh. If it's not those guys, the content is going to come from some other mixed outlet like IGN which isn't devoted to PC.
Ever since Totalbiscuit passed away, I've felt like no other big name has been as passionate about PC gaming as he was. But this channel, even though its labeled "gaming", seems to be super oriented towards PC and is a huge breath of fresh air. Plus, the amount of content is just great.
All that said – keep up the great work, man. I hope this channel grows a ton.
And if anybody else knows of smaller channels that are putting in the effort for PC-exclusive gaming/reviews, I'd like to hear about them.
Lots of gigs feel like they have more options. More doors and routes into hideouts, been fun revisiting some of the early ones, but not had a chance to see the later ones as started a new V.
I really hate level scaling. Otherwise, sounds good.
Right. The game is finally released. Alpha took long enough, and the correct price of it is finally displayed on Steam and Epic for people who aren't testing it. So I think it's time I try it. I predict, someone like me who was patient until full release, will enjoy the game – as it does look good.
Only found your channel recently and I have to say, the quality of your videos is absolutely top notch. One of the very few creators I've hit the bell for! Keep up the amazing work <3
Playing as David Martinez never felt so good especially with the phantom liberty perks for punching
Overall this update is great but I will admit its not all super. I am dealing with the pretty annoying relic glitch where the effect just stays on screen.. at first my optimistic brain was thinking maybe it could be something they did for immersion and it would go away on its own. Nah apparently it’s been in the game since launch… kinda funny I have over 200 hours invested across 2 characters since launch and now I’m actually experiencing the only real annoying glitch.
