Cyberpunk 2077 – The Swallow Theory

Did V ever wake up? Was the latest version of The Relic also Soul-Killer and it plopped us into Mikoshi when Dex offed us? Where we spent the rest of the game, running a simulation to check Arasaka for security flaws? Is it just a nice (meta) Blade Runner reference? I love cyberpunk 2077, and a good over-think.

  1. An interesting theory to be sure, and I have never noticed the other instances of the swallow outside of the Aldacados ending. Guess I need to go back and pay more attention since I am at the point of seeing them in my current Streetkid playthrough.

  2. I like this theory. It’s depressing at the same time. If it’s all a fever dream, V just exists in a perpetual nightmare. Constantly trying to save their own life, constantly feeling like the clock is running out and then they dream themselves a death…

Well I guess I’m gonna be binging your old videos tonight because I’m not sleeping. Thanks Tez! Lol

  3. There are no coincidences. 😉

Also – Interesting theory about Act I being the only "conscious" part. I'm trying to think if there were many (any?) Silverhand references in Act I that would help explain Johnny's promenant role in the dream…

  4. The old 'it was all a dream' plot twist is absolutely the worst thing I can think of in any story. I pray it's not true. I do think there's something weird going on in the story that may be revealed In Phantom Liberty [those statues too, and the Buddhist meditation sequences]…and I hope that V isn't finally, absolutely dead but somehow reappears. But I guess we'll see…

  5. A swallow is a symbol of passing a certain threshold. A new beggining, a new path some would say, so I do believe that in the aldecaldos ending (which many reffer to as the correct ending) it indicates that V is leaving NC for good and thus a new path emerges. But I wouldn't hope that in the DLC we will see any of this because CDPR is known for making DLC's as a seperate path in the middle of the adventure NOT something that should go pass the original ending.

And also I've just pulled all of this from my ass sooo… yeah. (:

  6. There's also the swallow potions in the Witcher.
There's so many nice touches in this game and I've missed quite a few of them. I'm glad your vids highlight them and I can watch out for things like this next time round 🙂

  7. Really don’t want to send you down the rabbit hole but do you think there’s a connection between the times you see a swallow vs the time you see a cat? Takemura’s conversations about Bakeneko’s and how the cat seems to appear around times of death (plus one loooves to live with you) whereas the most poignant sighting of the swallow is at the end during a time of hope/rebirth?
