Learn about the 2 phases of the game, and how they try to work together in order to bring the game together as a whole. I was skeptical of the timed aspect for sure. Are you? I’m here to share a few points about what the game is trying to do, and let you know where I stand with Cyberpunk 2077: The Board Game.

  1. I originally backed it, but ended up cancelling my pledge. I felt the gameloop was too repetitive and the co-op elements to simplistic and not really thematic enough to keep me wanting to play more. I understand they need to be this way for the timed element to work, but cyberpunk 2077 was crying out for a deep rpg like board game experience

  2. I don't like coops or dungeon crawls. But like you, I love Witcher Old World. And Cyberpunk is one of my favorite video games of my lifetime. So I'm in. I'm actually hopeful the real time element might remove the things I don't like about dungeon crawls and coops.

  3. I absolutely LOVE Witcher the Old World, but I'm pretty skeptical about the time-based gameplay and especially how they implemented the netrunning (seems like you're VERY tight on RAM all the time, since you need to spend it to both acquire some hacks and then use them). I'm very much afraid that this game has much more "looks" than actual "fun/gameplay". I still haven't decided whether to back or not, but I'll maybe do so, since worst case scenario this should hold it's value quite well.

  4. I'm totally a fan of the videogame (i'm in my 4th run of it! Platined on PS5 but now i'm replaying to get the secret ending and some other "scenes" 👄 😅).

But i'm a board game collector and player too and this thing about the "timed element" needs that the players had full knowledge of how to play and to decide what to do. Because of that, i'm still kind of skeptical.

  5. I think the biggest surprise for me is the sheer number of backers. Of course I recently looked at my game collection and thought that I just should not buy any new games for a year or so.
Now had the minis been 28/32 mm instead of 35mm so I could use them in miniature agnostic games too it would have been worse. 😀
On the bright side, with so many backers it should not be hard to find on the second hand market in the future. So not skeptical…just full at the moment. While I usually don't like real time elements, because something or someone is bound to get damaged, they do work in games like XCom and Bottom of the 9th.

  6. Theme and IP are just not enough. Mechanics looks simple and bland, like every IP game ever, so they can attract largest possible crowd. It's just yet another story based dungeon crawler, but with timer xD Not enough for my money.

  7. Paid reviews are paid… Be skeptical! You paying 300 now and you will get the game in almost 2 years…!!!
And this "review" appeared in the same time when the ALL IN pledge is available! THINK!
