100 Hours into Cyberpunk 2077 and the Good, Bad & Ugly of the game. Things have started to become more black and white, so let’s dive into just what this game accomplishes, where it falls short and where it surprises.
Here is my review for the game after a substantial amount of time with combat, lifepaths, dialogue, characters and all the main quests and all forms of side content.

Happy Holidays guys 🙂
Game's a 6/10 at best and deserves to be forgotten like most of 2020
I like it, but don't love it the way I was hoping I would. Has a lot of potential, though. I'm hoping they can improve it with patches and DLC.
To be honest i also enjoy the game even with the bugs it still has on PS4 Pro. They have really put a lot of effort in creating this gorgous city with all these details.
Also the story and side quests are very good as well as the characters.
But to really become an epic game CDPR really needs to
– improve the AI of NPC's (different more realistic reactions and also random interactions starting from running away until fight back) and of course the police
– The physics in the game are completley outdated with regards to driving of vehicles, also the damages of vehicles as well if u shoot on walls or cars or even into water with guns (there are already comparsion videos on youtube with far cry and gta)
– They need more interaction possibilities in this open world like minigames on some of the arcade consoles, animated eating and drinking at some shops, sitting down on a bench to observe the environment, hanging out with a compagnion in bars or dating your romanced character for hanging out and play dart or billard etc.
And of course they should put this Braindance feature as side activitiy in the game like other games have a cinema.
– I dont need to customize cars because they are already nice designed but the appartments at least they can let us modify.
This game has so much potential it needs to get finished first and then upgraded bit by bit with additional features and improvements.
Anyway i will not finish it now already on PS4 Pro but wait for the next gen upgrade and then start it new on PS5.
But there is a great outstanding game hidden beneath all this troubles and problems.
Hope CDPR seriously finishes and upgrade it in the next months.
Seeing the Patches they already throw out in short time i am convinced they will continue making this game great at the end with all DLC's and Add Ons
as GOTY Edition.
I agree and great review. The bugs and technical problems are fixable with patches, that's fine by me although it would have been great if released polished – that's not the real problem. The real problems are the barebones story about V and that biochip and not being able to really interact with little to none of the gang factions as well as the massive amounts of cut content (as promised as in trailers, live wires etc.) and worst – literally no real player choice, these are the real problems of this game! CDPR can fix the bugs and make the game 100% polished across all platforms (that's not the problem) but I doubt they'll make changes to the story and mechanics of choice that makes impact on outcome. With that said regardless if the game is fixed or not, the game is a dead duck. I have come to sad conclusion after playing my 3rd playthrough trying different life paths and different dialogues – hoping for something different with the choice of dialogues, saving certain NPCs but ultimately they are all the same and game ia very linear. The only good thing are character builds which are fine with substantial variety but IMO the netrunner w/smart weapons are the best and fun to play (and where the game shines most).
I hope CDPR can add future additions later on like barbershops and Tattoo Parlors for more tattoo options including more piercing options from body piercing jewelry and so on through out NC. It’s just the little things but I’m sure they will include it later on after they patch a lot of the game on current gen and I hope they add law enforcement vehicles driving around patrolling the streets. I mostly seen them parked and an additional system where we are being chased by police or corporate and gang enemies by moving vehicles. 🙏🏻
the thing with this game is that even with the lore content very much feels like we're supposed to 'imagine' what's going on but they never actually show to us (which would be the main reason to play a 'video' game in the first place).. all those shards, art books, lore books and so on just scream "we ran out of time but there you go – visualize for yourself!"
I also do not understand why so many people say GTA is a real sandbox, in GTA V there are hardly any interiors in its campaign, its open world is empty and it only has fun driving or flying or doing stupid, or those crappy mini-games. RDR 2 for me is one of the best games I played, and despite that, Cyberpunk 2077 is the best open world, even for me RDR 2 does not surpass The Witcher 3, I'll never understand that damn topic. Sandbox is minecraft, and the police system in Cyberpunk is something that existed in Skyrim. RDR 2, despite its quality and setting, had hardly any interiors and was not a city, not even in Denis … I don't know, I see Cyberpunk as the most credible open world so far, and each interior is different from another. , I look at that with more than 150 hours that I have played. For me GTA V is an empty open world, with no interiors, and for driving and flying planes, that's the way I see it, Cyberpunk's open world is much better than that.
It goes without saying that the history of the GTA and RDR are written books, just as people do not really understand that it is freedom in a game. Freedom for me are games like Skyrim, or this Cyberpunk where you choose what to say and do in action, apart from having your world open or games like Minecraft that to me the latter seems like a mess because there is no story or anything, but it offers freedom to create, damn if even in quality content in its open world The Witcher 3 is best than GTA. Very good video, I am glad that channels like this exist on this platform and happy holidays.
Love your channel and content…but I think you are too soft on this game…it’s bad…it’s lifeless and brainless…the story is mah at best and the game play is basic…it’s basically fallout with better graphics
Solid 7/10 game in my opinion. Nothing compared to The Witcher 3's 10/10.
So long story short, the story is ok but the gameplay is lacking. It's an aight game but far below what people were expecting. (This coming from an outsider's perspective I don't know shit about cyberpunk) despite its issues once I get a ps5 I think I'll still get the game just to have the experience and see what it's all about.
Witcher 3 just isnt as good to me. Cyber has more things I wish were different or better, yet I cant put it down and already surpassed my witcher gameplay time.
Can you resume the good and the bad things of cyberpunk and put a puntuation(1-10)?
Great honest review.
It is so far a half baked game. Things are not fully fleshed and finished imo. They have a good foundation that needed more. This game clearly brought in some issues for them. The idea of it has been in development for 8 years but it feels like something that was only worked on in 3-4. Maybe the hype and expectations for it brings a disadvantage but as for RPG games go this is not fully realized. I also do not find myself emotionally attached to V. I find Takemura a more compelling character and rather it center on him trying to clear his name while discovering freedom from Arasaka. I do not feel the stakes as V and I find the relationships with characters I have very limited and not developed enough for me to care.
No need 100h in ghis game. The main quest is like 10 hours. Empty game, flop of the century
Besides bugs, lack of third person cutscenes, and cut content my biggest issues are the character builds and crafting. Crafting is either overpowered and the obvious choice or it’s worthless, and if you don’t spec into it your whole experience is looter shooter hell. Gosh I hate the loot system. Picking up a “new” weapon every five minutes because of necessity gets really old. I downloaded the PC trainer cheat tool just to get perk points for crafting because I was so sick of having trash tier gear. It annoyed the hell out of me that I could not find almost any level scaling legendary gear that I actually liked and wanted to use long term save only for Johnny’s gear. All his stuff especially the Malorian Arms handgun is amazing, and Panam’s Overwatch is an awesome rifle, otherwise most others are boring. Precision rifles were such a letdown for me as “designated marksmen” style is my go to weapon type. As for character builds, I dislike that Jack of all trades really isn’t viable. I couldn’t hack anything, use anything requiring technical ability or pry anything open. Feeling locked out of everything sucked. Again trainer to the rescue. Added all attributes and raised difficulty to make up for being overpowered on normal. I really hope we get third person added as well as the cut content. Life paths that actually matter, and a completely redesigned itemization system in the near future. Oh and of course. Ditch the freaking censorship they added last minute. That right here is straight up false advertising and it bothers me even more that CDPR sold out on that point to BS ratings boards and retarded SJWs.
To be fair: everyone is comparing this to GTA but these are different games that approach the same themes differently. It's also the first game in the series, it's crazy ambitious too.
What people are really complaining about, is you can't really play it on dinosaurs console. Again to be fair, they didn't Telegraph or cancel release on older console. But to say the game is bad, even in comparison to 2020 release standards is wrong.
Wow, just what we need. A knockoff gta/ saints row
Nexus mods have some great solutions to keymapping. I use one that remaps my dodge to ctrl and gives a dedicated walking key that made my playthrough much more enjoyable. They aren't too hard to implement but it would have been much better to rebind these in game.
This "review' seems very spoilery but maybe it's just me..
Love the game but cap level 50 is bad. I stop playing after I realize I can't progress V anymore… Hopefully CD project will do something about it..
It's ok for me if it's not a sandbox experience (I loved Mafia 1 & 2), but damn that miserable AI, talk about breaking immersion… They will eventually fix the bugs but the AI, I doubt…
Fixed bugs and no cut content, open world interactivity and refined mechanics would've really made this game what it should've been, dissapointed in the decision by the higher ups in CD PR.
Absolutely incredible city, I loved the combat…. but other than that… I didn't really care for this game.
The most love/hate relationship I ever had with a game
I really enjoy this game, the city, the story, the characters. I’m most impressed with the depth in some of the side missions. Some of them are just great. A lot of the interactive things ppl were hoping for is what disappoints. So many places I wish I could go in and when you can there’s nothing much you can do. I fought grenade face in Pacifica and he stood in one spot and never threw a punch. Game crashes a lot etc… overall it’s a lot of fun, not game changing though.
it feels like half a game
my biggest problem with this game is it gives the illusion of choice. you may choose certain routes to take during a gig or mission, but the outcome is relatively the same regardless of the choices you made during said gig or mission. I found myself doing the same mission like four times, doing it differently each time and it ended basically the same but with slightly different dialogue throughout…
they went from a game that had real choice, The Witcher 3, a game where you could make multiple different choices that all had noticeable effects on quests and the storyline. to a game that tries to mimic that but relegates your choices to nothing but different dialogue and minor details that have very little effect on the actual narrative on the story or the mission you are doing…
the illusion of choice. this game has it bad and it was a mistake…
I want life path to have its own storyline. They could’ve easily had you started out as an army vet coming back to find a new life as a nomad. For corpo had you started out as a new employee for one of the big corporations. Street kid could easily have chosen different gangs to join.
From there you can get access to different armor sets, weapons, cyberware and vehicles. Nomad, DIY vehicles, modified stolen gear etc. Corpo, latest technology, higher quality tech, easy access to money. Street kid, black market technology, back alley upgrades, extortion. From these shortlist alone it makes the game far more interesting rather than having an ample amount of side quest which are all good but it didn’t give us a choice of which faction to join. In Skyrim you could join multiple guilds but different decision would take an effect on which guilds you can join but nevertheless it made the game a lot more fluid.
I believe it would have been better to have 1 ending and multiple beginning and middle. narrow it down to 1 ending for different lifepathz
I loved this Game
But here are the things i disliked or dissapointed me
1: the livepaths, they don't make a real Big diference on the Game
2: night city is amazing in desing but empty when You finish everything, like tsushima in GOT (i loved that Game to)
3: the dialogue options don't make a Big diference in the Game
4: the AI and the phisics
5: the broken meta, like in MHWI
Thank you for a thoughtful and detailed review. I agree with many of your points. The driving would have benefitted from the mechanics that they used during the race quests and with a minimap that dynamically zoomed out to match your speed. I find myself using a motorcycle in the city as it is a lot easier to weave in and out of traffic. I wish that you had a garage to go to and view your vehicles as you collect them and eventually in a DLC, the ability to mod cars like you can with weapons and maybe even with custom paint jobs. The story is compelling and the side quests can be just as interesting to complete. Is the game worth $60 – absolutely. Will the DLC hopefully build upon this foundation and add features that will make Night City even more interesting – I hope so. I do find some of the glitches annoying – such as the instant death from getting down from a pile of rocks in the wastelands when it is such a small jump seems like they could not get their environment layout working correctly. Inventory management would have benefitted from more tabs to isolate story elements from food/drinks, a warning if you try to break down or sell a unique weapon, and a better way to present important shards from generic ones when you are trying to finish a mission. All in all, this is a very ambitious game that didn't stick the landing but should still be a winner on points and in the upcoming contests.
I've watched a lot of your content on CP 2077 and it's all been good honest overviews. I'm still in love with CP even though I'm not sure I should be. Good work dude
Hey Neon, my main gripe with the game after A LOT of hours – not even 50% of what was advertised was delivered –
1 – no agency
2 – bad railroading (should've been used better)
3 – no real branching (and no, I don't mean changing the game 200% right smack in the middle branching does not only mean that EVERY little thing changes and everything will be different)
4 – AI, this is just a huge IF algorithm, I mean did you shoot to the air in the city? it's like they thought IF gunshot goes then duck NOT cover, AT LEAST BOB AND WEAVE A BIT, damn npcs lol, someone shoudl do an algorithm analysis of nested ifs here, ok I'm partly joking on this one, this is hyperbole but the AI is REALLY BAD.
I mean, I understand if you want to give me choices, but if ALL of them will end up in the same effin result.
Example of this? Your choices when you "release" the cloud characters dreamlike to investigate evelyn, all three choices end up exactly in the same thing, EXACTLY the same, River's mission – 3 choices only two results, at effin least give V the chance to do it himself, what is V in the end, a blank slate?
So in cases like that one (which are several) why in heavens would I want to even choose if all I get is just a couple different lines which won't even change a thing in the whole sandbox? For a dialogue heavy rpg it kind of misses the RP part.
As for the interactions in dialogues, did everyone forgot about fallout 4? It is better than FO sure, but look into it, IT IS EXACTLY THE SAME CORE MECHANIC, put a dress on a monkey, it is still a monkey even on the calls from whomever, it is exactly the same mechanic as in FO when you're talking with someone and suddenly start fighting.
Also I don't kid myself, this game so far feels just like the wrap (or maybe a new beggining) of the story between Johnny-Alt-Arasaka from 2023, which is fine and dandy, love Johnny's anti hero character and Keanu did a great job, he truly delivered but V feels most of the time like a blank slate likely because there's not that much development of V then you jump to the start of the story with the chip to wrap up the whole 2023 posse revenge, then the endings are pretty much 3 with side A you do you, or side B which if looking at it from a "this is just an intro to V and night city" could make more sense since Johnny ends up with that nasty grin of his on the bus.
To summarise my experience, the story is brilliant, the open world sandbox isn't. If you play cyberpunk like a narrative-driven linear game with lots of freedom, you'll enjoy it. I can't help but feel that lots of doors are blocked off. You can't look at a store and roleplay to go into the store and buy something or get a drink. It definitely feels more like an action-adventure game with player choice rather than an open world RPG.
Something like skyrim doesn't suffer this problem because it doesn't even present the possibility of that amount of choice. It doesn't have as many pretty animations and complex dialogue. But if Cyberpunk were to allow you to go and get a beer somewhere, itd have to sort out lots more than just removing an item from your inventory, because there is an expectation that it'll be just as immersive as the main story.
Just my thoughts, great video.
The 3 most annoying tings for me is while playing cyberpunk are:
1) Brain-dead AI, because when it comes to AI, it's like: you need to wear a coat today, It is brass monkeys when it comes to the AI in CP.
Police spawn out of nowhere! Breaking immersion, no car chases and when you crash into another car literally nothing happens.
2) Gameplay bugs such as: skills, items: mods, and cyberwear not working. It is just really annoying when making a built or getting a sweet item such as cyberwear or mods, and they are not working.
3) Stupid broken guns. Guns literally killing EVERYTHING in 1 shot. I got a gun that deals around 500-900k per shot. How is this healthy for the game?
And as a bonus 4) LIES and broken promises. CD red has been telling pork pies.
I just am absolutely knackered…. With this game.
I love this game for the wrong reason… Its potential… I really do love the game and even I will wait for mods and updates to fix things. The massively increased, forced censoring was a MAJOR down turn for my immersive, or lack there of, experience. Having literally only ONE light machine gun option with two aesthetic choices was also a major let down for my desire to play a machine gun wielding character.
Spoiler Alert:
Times Square is on crack.
NPCs in this game is terrible police system terrible and so many cuts contents. Just disappointing what a mess 😔☹
Thanks for the honest review. Unfortunately this is not the game I dreamed about since I played Neuromancer with Commodore 64 or B.A.T. II and Syndicate with Amiga 500 (one have arcade machines the other trains. Yes on 16 bits) Or later the masterpiece Deus Ex with PC. After all the good but deceiving marketing I though 2077 will be the "big one", the one for "close the circle" Is not. Yes, I know, marketing did the job. I don't have big hopes they will upgrade the game, fix bugs yes but little more. Then go MP and keep making big money. I'm sad to write this but CDPR is very low in my trust line now. Maybe in the future that dreamed game will see the light. I'm quite old and 2077 was my big bet but unfortunately the dream is not complete right now. Thanks for all the things you did/do in the channel ! ps : sorry for my "english"
The 100 hour review.. just over 22 minutes long. Not what I expected.
But… the review is only ~22min long?!?
There's so much missing content from this game.
this man went all out
CDPR were also pressured to release the game before Christmas so there is that.
100 hours review? Didn't even hit the half an hour mark, NEXT
I suggest they do a need for speed 2 navigation arrow.
There is no changes do to life paths be real about this and you’ll get more respect. Go watch fudge muppets video on this game for the real deal
I’ve had one main issue in the game aside from the visuals, and this is about 100hrs also.
The cab collection quest for delamain totally bugged out and somewhat locked my phone, meaning I couldn’t progress to any missions that required phone calls.
Turns out the remedy is to blow up one of the cabs.. failing the entire quest chain.
Nothing major however.
A running problem Iv discovered also is with iconic gear, half of it is totally missable and the rest doesn’t specify that you’ll need to keep them in order to upgrade them, with no ability to lock weapons.. it’s a pain shuffling iconics and having to go stash them.. just add a buy back system or blueprints for the specific base variant.
It’s got the potential for a major game, just no strong foundation to the individual aspects.
