Is it worth upgrading from the GTX 1060 to the RX 6600? Since the GTX 1060 is still the most widely used GPU and the RX 6600 is currently the cheapest GPU from the current generation, this seems like an interesting topic. In this video we test out Cyberpunk 2077 on both cards at 1080p and 1440p at all graphics presets, including a little bit of Ray Tracing on the RX 6600 at 1080p.

  1. You could lock the fps to 30 if you had to I guess and play it that way. I know 60 fps is preferable and it's my minimum I'm usually willing to play but if you didn't have much of a choice we've all played at 30fps at some point.

  2. At AU$699 this seems like a pretty good buy in Australia at the moment (although I see this has gone up to AU$729). With the current market this isn't too terrible. Luckily I already upgraded my 1060 to a 6700XT at a not too disgusting price. FSR gives some extra options as well…

  3. you know that what you doin' make no sense? … you know that normally, people with e.g. a GTX 1060 should always set the Textures to Ultra and rest down … this is the rule of thumb: textures always up … and shadows, volumetric and other things at least 1 step down….
and this does not matter what game it is … that applys to all games…

So, I hope, that your viewers arent dumb and go for the "preselected settings" that game developers made or what you doing here …. Cause this got nothing to do with the real world for a gtx 1060 user with a brain inside.

And in this regard, it makes no sense of what you doing there with the GTX 1060. …. it would maybe make sense if you were "hardware unboxed", because you wanted to fill your graphs of graphics cards … but you arent…

so it would make more sense to "set optimized settings" for a gtx 1060 for your viewers …

but maybe thats only my opinion…

  4. I can't believe I am saying this but I am enjoying farcry 6s world more than a world created by cdpr. Most youtubers use cybperpunk as a graphics benchmark and everytime I see it I am reminded of how empty and dead the world is. :<

  5. The RT in this game really just tanks the fps more than any game I've played. I have both AMD and Nvidia systems that can run this at 1440P high 60+ fps without RT but then you turn on RT and it's game over. The thing is, I think the non RT lighting looks great so I rather play with it off.

  6. this was my exact experience when upgrading from a GTX1070 to a 6600XT, basically got 200% the performance.
Nowadays I play it at 1440p starting out at ultra then lower parameters like
    – cascade shadow resolution: medium
    – screen space reflections: low (massive performance upgrade but still good reflections)
    – dynamic clouds: off (heck, you hardly ever see them. no reason having that system running in the background, just pretend it's a sunny day)
    – ambient occlusion: medium
    – color precision: low
    – dynamic resolution: 80%, 60fps target (helps out in hectic firefights in demanding scenes, but generally the game renders natively)

I get a 60-80fps experience. The game looks great, it looks like "Ultra" But you gain so much performance by lowering those parameters.

  7. For those with a motherboard that supports smart access memory, they may also get an uplift on the 6600. Games like RDR2 will have a much better minimum frame rate too.
