In this video we will be taking a look at Cyberpunk 2077, and benchmarking not only the game, but also how much does an older processor bottleneck a brand new RTX 3080 running a brand new, next-gen game! Testing at 1440p

  1. Heya, firstly congratulations with 144 subs! I've subscribed also — just my 2 cents, if you're showing 1440p content, please publish video in 1440p. 🙂 — anyways cheers for this Video, i have a 6700k with 1080ti + 1440p monitor, have been contemplating whether i should upgrade to 3080. Thanks for your help

  2. Running the same setup. RTX 3080 16gb 3000mhz RAM and 6700k. The game gets annoying when driving through lots of traffic. Drops to 30 FPS from 70 FPS even with high settings and RT off with DLSS on, and 2k.
Tried dropping to medium settings RT off, DLSS on, 2k, and had the same issues when driving through lots of traffick, drops to 30 FPS. Unplayable if you are use to PC gaming.

Pretty sure its the CPU that is bottlenecking.

    Looking to upgrade. Either i7 10700kf; 340 Euros or Ryzen 7 5800x; 470 Euros.

Think Ill go with Intel, AMD is overpriced right now. Should I wait for next CPUs?

Currently running the 6700k at 4.6 ghz

  3. I'd be totally fine with 30 FPS as long as it's very stable. So maybe I'd play 4k maxed out with DLSS and limit FPS to 30. It'll be exactly half of my refresh rate(60) which ensures stability with no stutters. This is coming from someone who has actively used a 144 Hz monitor. CP77 is one of the few games that can actually play just fine with 30 FPS.

  4. I had a 6700k oc to 4.5ghz and the CPU literally choked out my 2070s so much to the point that I had to upgrade to a ryzen 5 3600 in order to play the game smoothly. GPU sometimes sit around 70-80% while cpu was like 90-97% at someplace in the city or while driving, and CPU bottleneck creates noticeable stutter that even g-sync couldn't eliminate.

  5. Congrats on the subs! Wishing you many more and lots of success!

So, I have roughly the same setup. I am working with a 7700k overclocked to 4.8ghz, Gigabyte Z270X Gaming 7, an ASUS TUF RTX 3080 on OC profile, and 32 gigs of Corsair Dominator 3000mhz ram on XMP.

I get roughly 45-60 on your initial settings (1440p Max settings, ray tracing, no dlss).

Some things that helped boost that a bit that you could mention:
    – setting maximum power in your Nvidia settings.
    – I also get a boost if I turn off all overlays (Discord, Steam, Nvidia, etc).
    – disabling any other high cpu use programs such as virus protection.
    – and I know most people think it's a gimmick, but Asus GPUtweak has a Game Boost function that disables certain Windows animations, background program, and sweeps the memory. It shuts down my Nvidia Experience which has caused a couple game shutdowns, but overall it actually boosted me a little bit more.

With all that I got a 10-15fps boost. Might be worth a shout out. I am not a professional so any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Once again, great video! I'll throw a sub your way.

  6. There are still areas in the city, like some bazars, or driving car trought cowded area, where fps will drop even with rtx off and medium settings with cpu like this. I bought myself rtx3080 and after seeing the benchmarks, where in 4K or 1440p actually doesn't matter which CPU you got, i was more that certain, that i'll be OK with my i7 7700k. How surprised i was. Cyberpunk 2077 is extremely cores/threads hungry. When you watch it benchmarked with different cpu's, there is good difference even between 10, 12 and 16 cores. And 4-cores CPU simply cannot handle that game too well.

  7. Nice tests, also have a 6700k ( but with a 2080 )….Can you maybe overclock it to 4.5 or 4.6? So we can see the difference? I mean nobody keeps a 6700k at 4100 MHz ( stock ).

P.S. Mine is running at 4.7 Ghz ( and the results in Far Cry 5 for example compared to stock show a 10% difference in FPS )
Keep up the good work. Quality video, good explanations…exactly what we need.
