  1. both are overrated in my book. With unreal, if the game uses the features, you don't need these to kill performance just to get better reflection your going to notice for 10 min then forget anyway. lol id rather have stable smooth performance.

  2. I dont Like Pathtracing, its simply to realistic. I Like Games because everything is shiny and colorfull, raytracing makes the Game better but path tracing makes it boring.

  3. …remember kids the Rtx 3090 supports Sli… (Only dual not quad though saddly unless you’re a literal tech wizard and don’t mind being sketch about it.)

looking at eBay as my cart has 2 3090’s and I’m debating on making a path tracing gaming machine of legends

Dear Nvidia bring back Sli for the damn 40 series

  4. so why not just make everything in the world pitch black and then start adding sources of light just like in real life that scatter and only let those lights affect the visuals instead of creating independent light sources on the character models?

or did I just describe path-tracing without realizing?

  5. On my 7900gre at 1440p, I get a cinematic 32fps, with a low of 25 on the benchmark, is it playable? Barely. Will I be using it during my actual playthrough? ABDOLUTELY NOT. But I will be checking out some locations with it enabled to see how they look

  6. Not gonna lie, ray tracing is a scam by Nvidia to sell more graphics cards.

Okay, I am exaggerating, but honestly, it barely makes a difference, and genuinely, there are so many other tradeoffs that would make the gameplay experience better beyond the 2% better lighting.

I would much rather play a game that has a sharp 4K look with good antialiasing. Ideally, in a way where getting closer to any given texture just makes it render in more detail rather than be capped, but of course that is not a choice that is given to the consumer, if the video game assumes you want ray tracing, and it doesn't give you the option for better textures, well then you have no choice.
