Cyberpunk 2077 – On Day 113

Cyberpunk 2077 has been on what can only be described as a 9 year tailspin. The videos of Cyberpunk 2077 bugs and glitches floating around really only tell a small part of the game’s story. This is a game that semi-announced way back when CD Projekt Red bought the official rights to the table top RPG and then a teaser was shown the following year. Since then a lot has happened, so I want to look at all of that. The business stuff, the gameplay realities and everything in between for Cyberpunk and see what could’ve been done differently.

BIG shoutout to GC who produced all the tracks in the vid!

  1. I'M COUNTING THE GAME'S FULL ACTIVE DEVELOPMENT AS ABOUT 5 YEARS FROM TODAY FYI: Previous to that, the game was likely in a very slow state of pre-production and idea spinning. I know I say this in the video, but just to get out ahead of the comments from people that don't get through the vid lol

ALSO ADDENDUM: So I made this video over the past week and a half. Since then, CD Projekt Red has said a few things I want to address real quick:

    1. They seem to agree about the release window and hype window points of this video. That’s a huge step in the right direction obviously.

    2. They seem to be considering cancelling the multiplayer of the game all together. Honestly, I think that’s for the best. Focus on fixing the game you’ve already released.

    3. They released update 1.2, let me tell you about my experience with it. The patch fixed a few serious bugs, for example, I no longer fall through the map after fast traveling to one of the fast travel points in the desert. HOWEVER, the game is still a SERIOUS mess. I’ve actually seen a few new bugs I hadn’t seen before, and I’m still getting at least one noticeable bug in every play session.

Literally right before I uploaded this video for release, I had an enemy teleporting all over a room repeatedly to the point that I literally couldn’t kill him. I’m glad they’re clearly focused on fixing the game, but despite the giant patch notes, this was a small bandaid for a game that needs a lot more care. And some things, like AI issues and world balancing issues, will likely never be fixed as they’re likely too foundational. TLDR; some things got fixed, new things broke, still too many problems.

  2. Holy hell, I missed this =D This video has a good moral, and…. it's also why I'm not going to buy or preorder Atomic Heart until I am 120% sure what it's like.

12:45 Though I do feel like Metro's semi-open-world is a better route for some of these game franchises that cut their teeth on linear experiences.

  3. I agree it can be disappointed and enjoy some thing. I really like the idea of cyber punk I enjoyed some parts of the game. Unfortunately it was such a mess and CD Projekt Red Knew just how bad the game was before release.

  4. Isn't this too late? Like Cyberpunk after the 1.2 patch isn't even the same game. I've ran into almost no bugs, not a single progression bug and everything from 15 hours so far as either been fixed or flat out revised. I could care less about last gen, those consoles are old. I never thought CP would run well on those dated crap boxes. It's why I bought a PC. Not five years btw, 4. Not sure where you got 4. The game came out at the end of 2020 and didn't go into development until 2016.

  5. He’s back! 🙂 it’s not just the bugs I’m let down by in the game it’s the lack of interactivity in the world! I just don’t think the engine itself is upto what we expected tbh, so sad to see it come out so poorly though after hearing ready when it’s ready! 🙁
