Bill’s frustrating adventures with the RGB-Pi. A terrible experience that I 100% recommend. The past and the future coming together to make something not quite as good as either.

Has Science gone too far? Very nice video, RIP to that one Power Supply though 🪦✌
It's seriously cool that Sonic Mania works so well. I'm one of those that abandoned CRTs and never looked back the moment I could afford the upgrade to a flat panel but it's great people are keeping the tech alive. No reason to send things to the landfill when they still work.
But I really didn't need to know that Quake II vinyl exists. More things to spend money on…
🤣
This video went so hard. It was really cool to see things like Forza on a CRT.
The light psu switched your rcb
I can see the potential in this channel great video
it would be cool to see hellblade 2 senuas sacrifice on crt. would look like a movie
also, why the hell do you have less than 1000 subs. didn't even notice till now. was expecting to see tens of 1000's easy. subbed!
its not about the best way to play it its about how much fun you have playing it that way i like to play ps2 games on emulation softwaer with filters to make it look more like it would have back in the day it just feels better, yeah cyberpunk probably isnt the best thing to play on a crt but if you have more fun playing it on a crt then why not
One good thing about Cp2077 on a CRT is that you don't need DLSS to run Path Tracing on 480p 😀
Never expected to see 2077 this way it looks dope AF, Great job man.
If it was on a monitor instead of a tv, maybe yea
If there's ever an easy way to do something on Linux, people will complain until it's removed haha.
I used to have a browser folder of tasks made easy for Linux. Slowly but surely, they're all disappearing.
I love Linux in a way, but so much of the community is "Work harder, not smarter" haha. This is a sweet video though!
for those who wanna get a similiar experience without the need of a RPi: there are HDMI-to-S-video adapters that do a pretty decent job with minimal input latency. image quality is not quite as good as RGB of course, but still leagues better than the cheaper HDMI-to-SCART/AV adapters that only put out composite video. playing the PC ports of Mario and Zelda 64 at 60fps on a real CRT is amazing, and even some old PC games work reasonably well at 480i.
Been using a CRT VGA monitor with a VGA to DisplayPort adapter for retro games and even to play some modern games. Assuming you use Linux, you can even get it running below 640×480 with nice looking scanlines (Although sadly, custom resolution support is a mess on Wayland, you're forced to use X11 for the time being). You really don't need an ancient Radeon card and Windows 7/10 if you buy an active adapter.
CRT TVs are fine, but at least with the 15KHz input, I hear high pitched whining, and going from a 90-160Hz output with minimal flickering to a 50 or 60Hz CRT output gives me a migraine personally. Plus finding an RGB (or at the very least component) capable one in my area is like finding a unicorn.
I'd also recommend with newer games, play them at 640×480, and then disable anti-aliasing in-game if possible.
Driving around at night gives me such Blade Runner vibes on the CRT. Just like watching it on a VHS tape back in the day.
I'd love to try cyberpunk 2077 on a 1080i CRT
Germany, explains the weird 50fps on the video.
