Hey folks, welcome to Deconstructing The Game. In this video I talk about the possible origins on the JG rings and what I think it means in Cyberpunk 2077. What do you think ? Just a fashion Jinguji ring or something more ?

  1. I still think people are probably over-thinking the rings and they're just Jinguchi rings that have been added to lists of approved attire for corpos and a few other NPC classes by the game designers, to ensure they have a recognisable fashion style associated with them. Artists have had to create all the apparel items in the game, and I'm sure there's a style guide for creating NPC's that says what kind of items they should wear. CDPR have obviously put a lot of effort into establishing recognisable fashion trends for the different subcultures that exist in the game's universe, and I think JG rings are likely just a part of that. I'll be very happy if I'm proved wrong, though- I love all the game lore hinting at a secret cult.

  2. Would have been nice if one of the minor benefits of taking the Devil's Ending would be to suddenly find when you reload the save previous to entering Embers, your V is wearing an Arasaka ring.

  3. The thing about secret societies though… they don't wear recognizable uniform clothing because it makes being secret harder… for no reason.

Plus how can one authenticate a document if everyone has the same ring? Signet rings were unique, as you stated- there are 100's of these in the game, all the same. Plus we've never seen any kind of wax seal on anything and in a cyber world verification or authentication could be done digitally far more securely (and discretely).

The Masons aren't really even a secret society. They don't discuss their tenants or meetings but neither does Scientology or even board meetings. So maybe it's an elite club but if you go back 100 years or so when the Masons were somewhat secretive you'll see they didn't have any indicators, they used a secret handshake. If this was a ruling elite I think they too would keep that secret.

  4. An aspect of the Mason ring, within the Mason order the G generally stands for GOD or the almightly, not Geometry but ive heard it used as such in the past. There is really no :official: meaning but generally its a Nod to g*d
