Even though I thoroughly enjoyed playing Cyberpunk 2077, I do have a few complaints.

  1. Cyberpunk 2077 is one of those 7/10 games I absolutely love. It’s objectively shallow and subjectively not a great game but it checks all the right boxes for me to enjoy each minute playing it

    Hopefully we eventually get something deeper and more polished in the openworld cyberpunk genre because the idea was perfect the execution was just flawed

    Oh and CDPR are pieces of shit for how they handled the review process especially for console players. No matter how you look at it none of that was ok

  3. So many quality of life decisions that CDPR are known for from witcher 3 are left out and it just gives me a greater impression that they didn't care this time around.

  4. I really did enjoy playing this game, partly because I had a high end computer actually able to run the game, but also because I genuinely think it is a good game.
    The world and characters are amazing, everything looks beautiful and sci fi and the combat generally feels impactful.

    But the after playing the game for a while it just felt bad. It has all these amazing things I want to do, yet I feel like I have to do all the side gigs in this area or stop every 100m to fight crime. It feels like you have chores you have to do, but no time to actually do them. After about 30 hours of this I ended up opening the game and just looking at the world map and seeing all the gigs around, and I just lose my interest in playing the game because it feels like a chore.

    I really hope in the future they do some major changes and add more downtime and breaks in the game. Skyrim would be a terrible game if you log in and the game just gave you every quest from the beginning.

  5. Still have not purchased the game yet. Remember seeing the original teaser in 2013, have been waiting ever since – but of course the trash fire of a launch made me glad that I did not buy. Is the game ready to be played yet, or should I continue waiting?

  6. I'm still wondering if they can bring this game into a decent status where it doesn't feel that rushed. There are so many good points in this video but I fear none of them will be fixed. I had also quite some fun with it but I can't get rid of the feeling that it will be a 'what could have been' game even with some new patches. And I also can get rid of the feeling that CDPR tried to do something in a setting there were not capable of doing it right. They nailed Witcher (and even that had a painful start) but they seem not to be able to get this concept working in this setting. Especially the fact that they fail on so many tiny things that games in the past have done right.

    Well… let's see where this game will end up when it's finally patched (in 1 or 2 years or so).

  7. I agree Totally with the Map. The Map and everything threw me off totally, in fact it confused the hell out of me at first. I thought that was weird too, that everything was just on the map, it was ridiculous. This bothered me right away as well.

  8. Its not just CP202 that does this. Very few games really take actions into account. If someone has killed half the members of the group and maybe hundreds of other people who got in his way, people ought to react with fear. Now sure cyber-psychos , drauger and the like might not but if I just met a guy whose killed 50 men , I'm going to treat that person with serious respect.

  9. I'm almost done with my 3rd playthrough so I obviously agree with this being a good game. That being said my biggest complaint is the main story was completely predictable as was most of the side quests. I guess after Witcher 3 I expected more. But it is worth the time and money. Hours of enjoyment. Great summation Gopher.

  11. Thermal – yes Evelyn had Thermal in her optics.

    Ideas:
    Main Quest Rush – This seems to be a trend (based on my incredibly small dataset… okay trend might be overstating it) Fallout 4 suffered from this in a huge way. I'm not sure why we're trying to combine huge open worlds with story-driven mechanics. Red Dead Redemption 2 very successfully combed the two by introducing urgency toward the end of each chapter. You could feel free to explore for weeks early on, and the pressure only built as you completed story elements. Then the pressure was off again at the beginning of the next chapter – that pattern slowly escalates to a desire to push the story along but by then, you've had ample opportunity to explore the world. This follows a crisis-resolution pattern where each resolution leaves you better off than the peak of the crisis but worse off than before the crisis – building tension and urgency as you go.

    The story is essentially a hard structural element and will always be in conflict with the "open-world". One is usually urgent and mostly linear – the other is… not. If your story has a time motivation you have a problem. I feel like the solution is to be modal – you can be "In" the story, or "adjacent" to the story. If you're in it, then you have all the story elements and all the urgency and can view all the side stuff as fill to be used in the occasional lull in story action. If you're adjacent, you can see the impact of the story around you, maybe you get to interact with the story as a "side" character but, you're really just a person making their way in the open-world space.

    Assault in progress. What you said about timing, but if you miss it, you can simply recycle that assault later. Take it off the map, wait an in-game few days – then if you are near that spot again, give the player another opportunity.

    Crime & Punishment – seems to be a feature with open-world games – all the cops/guards know instantly and arrive nearly as fast. Clearly, this needs evolution in the gaming industry. Eventually, someone will do it mostly right, then it will evolve into something really great (Unless Warner gets a patent on it).

  12. The story itself was very enjoyable. But as was stated in the video. If that pivotal moment in the game had been left to at least the second half of the story it would of been much more effective at delivering all of the intended messages. Spoilers being avoided of course, what happens at one of each of these turns could have been left exactly as they were but being all the more memorable or heart wrenching merely by delaying this point of crisis in the story.

And if you give me a 3D map or orthographic map, whatever it is, with skyscrapers that have many floors and ppl/things I need to get to on those different floors, and various overpasses and submerged alleyways with shops and living spaces and assaults in progress, and all that, can I please scan it in more ways than just a 2D scroll and zoom in/out? Especially when the zoom-in dead-ends way too high above what I'm trying to see up close???? It's almost impossible to figure out how to get where you're going if all you have is an aerial view and everything appears to be on the same plane.

    Also, the graphics are great and all, but when I walk through a puddle of blood with all the beautiful ray-tracing reflections (yes, I know I should be more concerned with the big pool of sticky liquid life than how pretty it is), I'M SUPPOSED TO SEE A BLOODY FOOTPRINTS TRAIL BEHIND ME. At least for a short distance, anyway. I mean, geez, I'm pretty sure games like Doom 2 managed that decades ago.

    There is a ton of other stuff I could gripe about, like the things floating in the air everywhere, but suffice to say CDPR was bound and determined to release this game in 2020, regardless of readiness. That said, I, too, am enjoying playing it, despite it all.

  15. i wish there were more romance options, idkw but i went into the game thinking it would be a lot smuttier than it turned out to be as it's about gangs and night life. also more weapons, got tired of seeing the same 10 weapons all the time.

Ngl this is why I loved morrowinds main quest so much, caius literally tells you to go get freelance work, join a guild, build yourself up etcetera before shoving neravarine prophecies down your PC's throat. The main quest is almost non impactful until you actually get to vivec or atleast the Ashlander tribes.

  19. There is no hate for cyberpunk on the internet, it disapointed, people expressed themselves and moved forward.
    I personnally may be one of those "haters" depending on your standards.

    But can we also have the right to feel cheated, to be disapointed and to express ourselves with arguments and – sometime – passion, without beeing labelled haters ?
