Great video, great use of music I like how it was more subtle in the first few shots of New York
That transition from cyberpunk to times square was brutal man
This is a fantastic dive into the world of unregulated advertising. I’m interested to see where you go from here, keep up the great work!
Amazing video, i did not expect such a deep dive into ads in general outside of the world of CP2077! From pacing of the cuts to the actual informations to the visuals, very well done 🙂
I've been amazed by the quality and content of the ads in the game from the first minute, they create such a unique environment that feels so real and believable. Combined with the insane architecture of NightCity and the actual appearance of most or all of the products in the world or the lore they really create a "real world" feeling i did not have for many other games in the past. World building is something i already loved from the developers CDPR in Witcher 3, which actually created cities, towns and landscapes that felt real in size and life instead of the pure fantasy and small scale of something like Skyrim where the main city has just 19 buildings. CP2077 is definetly not perfect, but some of its aspects are absoluty mesmerizing.
its so funny. cyberpunk is literally a warning to what is happening right now. we are mear pen swipes away from lobbists for what are already mega corps that the governments suport . if you take nothing else from this mans video. take this." the star do shine bright but when the lights of the ads are brighter. what will you stare at and look up to". we arent going to the world of cyberpunk. we are there but a very much softcore version of it. companyies know a very small amount of us still have the free will to say no and fight back but what if that dies. who will stop them and how far will the corps and the rich go. we are at the line of no return for people and the planet and the dive is coming. you best choose your side fast and hope your right.
An excellent, well-constructed video essay that shows the depth of understanding you have of the issues that advertising poses to our public spaces and our very minds. Bravo, Adam – I'll look forward to what you come up with next.
On a cyberpunky tangent, have you played Citizen Sleeper? I found I had a lot to say about that one; would love to hear your thoughts as someone with an obvious interest in the genre and the ways in which it exposes issues relevant to our own contemporary society.
Great video with good points, and a great closing point. There's also the light pollution. We cannot see the stars in the sky anymore in part due to everything being constantly lit up everywhere. It's not just air pollution.
Finally someone who understands my borderline pathological hatred of advertisements and the people who produce them. I genuinely believe a great deal of our modern evils can be placed squarely at the feet of the advertising industry. Late stage capitalism does not work without the coercion that ads provide, social media loses its function almost entirely when it ceases to be a platform for advertising (to us and between us), people's difference and similarities become obvious and apparent when there is no marketable sheen of narrative dysfunction to smooth them over.
Without a titanic industry telling people what to think people are forced to think for themselves, which forces them to justify the beliefs they hold to be endemically true.
I look forward to seeing what you make in the future. I'm curious to see what you could accomplish with a longer runtime.
jesus christ dude, amazing video! truly impressed! u got me to take a step back and actually think this through! amazing work and i hope u continue !
I loved playing in the world of cyberpunk, it was an amazing parody of the modern world with some very important messages hidden in the background as you play.
Wow, the comparisons really showed how Times Square had WAY more advertisements present than Night City. Terrifying.
This is an excellent video , deserves all the attention
Really good really well paced. Had some really nice language like perversion of our humanity and stuff really like it man great job
great video, im subbed
i never really noticed this until watching this video, but times square has more ads per square inch than the actual cyberpunk game. We're done for.
This is a fantastic video! Great analysis!
The mindset reminds me of Futurama,
Leela: Didn't you have ad's in the 20th century?
Fry: Well sure, but not in our dreams. Only on TV and radio. And in magazines. And movies. And at ball games and on buses and milk cartons and t-shirts and written on the sky. But not in dreams. No siree!
Glad im just a geek, minding my own business.
nice work 🙂
Best Video of the year.
