Guys I had the same problem as you. What I was doing wrong was inserting the game disc (the disc you use to play the game) and the upgrade didn’t appear.
The solution was basically putting in the data disc (disc you use to install the game). Once you put it in, the free upgrade will appear.
This isn't showing for me anywhere even do i have it fully installed & updated… it only shows to buy it but it does show the ps4 ps5 version now buy only for purchase. Wile the disc ie inserted other games don't have this issue.
If you have a Physical PS4 copy of the game you have to insert the disc into your PS5 before the free upgrade will appear. EDIT: So as of right now from what I can gather there is a regional issue in Europe and surrounding regions.

Hey, I already downloaded next gen version to my ps4 cyberpunk disc, but then, I deleted the ps4 version. Now, allways when I turn it on my ps, the ps4 version will start downloading. It´s rlly annoying. Can you help?

For some silly reason, the upgrade is region-locked. Only works, if you have the disc version that matches your PSN profile. So if you bought the Australian version, you need to have an account at the Australia store to upgrade it.
I had recently deleted the game(disc), but once this was announced i started to download it again but i stopped the last-gen version from downloading, and only downloaded the next gen and it was only 50GB, once it finished I was able to load in the game. In my storage settings it says the game is only 50gb. Im so confused how this is working. should i re download everything?

To everyone from europe (not sure about other parts) not seeing the ps5 version for free but only the paid version, this should fix it:
– make a fake user on your console that has the country set to Poland 🇵🇱
– after correctly making a user from Poland you should be able to see the ps5 version for free now (if you already had the ps4 version) you can start the download on this fake user and then switch back to your own user and then play it there.

It doesn't work for everyone like that. There's no free download option. I have a ps5 with the disc ps4 version but no options to upgrade after following your video or several others. I can't be the only one. This is BS that you have to go through hops just to get something they promised and people claim it to be so easy. It's not or at least not for me and my situation.
