Cyberpunk 2077 got a new update: Hotfix 1.06. As promised, CD Projekt Red are dedicated to making the game playable for those who bought it. With this new Cyberpunk patch, they solved the save file corruption issue on PC: PC players experienced an issue, where, if the save file was over 8 MB, they got an error message that their game file was corrupted and the game could no longer be loaded. Thanks to the 1.06 update, this should no longer be the case. PC players no longer have a save-file limit of 8 MB.

PS4 and Xbox players can rejoice as well, because the Cyberpunk 2077 Hotfix 1.6 also updates the game on consoles: The game should now crash far less than before on the PS4 and Xbox as well as on the PS5 and the Xbox Series X.

One last thing that the hotfix does is remove an issue, where Dum Dum went missing during a mission. This should no longer be the case. Good for us and good for Dum Dum.

So to sum up, here are the patch notes for Cyberpunk 2077 Hotfix 1.6 :

➤ Quests: Dum Dum will no longer go missing from the entrance during the mission
➤ Console (PS4, Xbox, PS5 & Xbox Series X): Improved memory management and stability, resulting in fewer crashes
➤ PC: Removed the 8 MB save file size limit. Note: this won’t fix save files corrupted before the update

Don’t forget that you can still get the game refunded on consoles, if you are not happy with the performance. If you insist on holding on to your Cyberpunk copy though, you can look forward to more patches in January & February. CDPR promised that they will roll out big patches in 2021 which will significantly improve the game’s performance on all consoles. This was a statement made by them, after they acknowledged that they were selling false promises ahead of release. It is now clear, that Cyberpunk will never run as well on the current consoles as it will on next-gen or PC, but at least the game should work.

We are curious what CDPR has in stores for us. They surely need to do something, as the game is still awaiting its true upcoming next-gen release for PS5 and Xbox Series X, as well as a multiplayer sometime in 2022. Gotta get on the good side of all your faithful gamers again, CDPR.

  1. Since patch 1.06 my game crashes constantly (playing on pc). Tried reinstalling the game, playing on older patches (getting black screen on older patches) and reinstalling drivers. Nothing works, anyone has a fix for this??

  2. 1.06 has been nothing but trouble for me. Many bugs, many crashes, and FPS drops randomly. 1.03 runs much better for me strangely. Also the 8mb save was a setting that can be fixed easily.
