Even though it sold quite well, it looks like the shortcomings of Cyberpunk 2077 at release have now drastically hurt the overall value of publisher CD Projekt. Prior to the launch of Cyberpunk 2077 back in 2020, CD Projekt was considered the most valuable gaming company in Europe. And while it seemed like the sky was the limit for the studio behind The Witcher 3, the company’s most recent release seems to have done more harm than good.
According to Business Insider Poland, the overall value of CD Projekt has dipped by 75% since the release of Cyberpunk 2077. Prior to the game’s arrival, CD Projekt was said to be worth 40 billion Polish złoty. Today, it’s only said to be valued at 10 billion złoty. Despite selling millions upon millions of copies, it seems the only reason for the publisher’s value to have dropped in this manner is due to the blowback that it got when Cyberpunk 2077 launched in an incredibly poor state at the end of 2020.
What’s perhaps most baffling about this is that CD Projekt supposedly isn’t even the biggest gaming company in its own country when looking purely at the estimated value. Techland, which is the company behind Dying Light 2, is now the biggest gaming studio in Poland at a value of roughly 10.6 billion złoty.

Thanks for watching and LIKING the video! Will you TRUST them to make Witcher 4 in the future? <3
You say this yet their share price is still more than what it was 5 years ago, 2 years after Witcher 3 release.
I am finding it rather difficult to feel sorry or any kind of sympathy for these guys
Once Witcher 4 comes out they'll be fine. It'll sell like gangbusters
Dreamcastguy official Cyberpunk unpatched LAUNCH EDITION review, 9/10.
This isnt a story, anyone who follows the stock market will know that the majority of stocks are down massive amounts this year. It currently has very little to do with them as a company
People forget that the Witcher 3 (especially on PC), was a buggy mess when it first came out. CDPR apologized and promised to fix the game, and give people free DLC and reasonably priced DLC with tons of content.
Fast forward to 2020 and CDPR did the same thing with Cyberpunk. They thought fans would understand again. We didn't. Now, that trust is gone, and it may never come back.
I could see Sony getting CDPR to combat the purchase of Bethesda and Activision.
Sony or Microsoft don't need them bro….Microsoft have obsidian and Bethesda my guy …sony have their own studios ……if sony want to buy someone that shud be square Enix
CDprojectred just like my friend once failed his test he never got up again and I failed every test but I got 1 major passed on full subject during middle school.
It’s good that it’s mainstream now we have power now good for there asses
Lol to “play it and roast it” sad era for gaming but yea everything thing u said is right
Meh 9…out of 10
The whole city was hand crafted, as far the rabbit whole the game went down. It's not like this game isn't a graphical marvel.
It's a shame that the company went under.
Never in my life, will I ever want to see a studio get bought out, especially one as talented as CD pr
I’m sure Gwent didn’t help at all
cd projekt should have done the verification of their employees a long time ago. After some games, such as Gwent, you can see how people who are responsible, who have no ideas, pretend that they are doing anything useful, but they are not. Gwent is an example of this, where you create appearances and in fact go for a total mental easy. After The Witcher, money hit them, and the reality shows that they have poor creative potential and should focus only on the golden egg and not pretend that they are doing something new because they generally do shit and their subsequent products are only suitable for phones.
The game was pretty amazing in my book, but I played it on PC and got lucky to never have an issue with it. Sad things turned out the way they did.
I don't know why anyone is surprised. The game was technically a scam, and if the company didn't have such a loyal following, I'm sure a class action suit would've followed. Nothing was as promised, and no update has been able to fix that (and won't). I don't think the company will go down, since they're making Witcher 4. Never really got the franchise but most people seem to love it, so..
Another round of Dreamcastguy moaning about Cyberpunk/CDPR…. Great🫤 He just can't let it go.
ALL tech markets are down, go look at any other tech stock… it’s unrelated.
But I heard the game sold well?
It won’t hurt them though and they’ll lie and overhype the next release all the same. Guys is suits with infinite money learn nothing every time.
I think this is a bit dramatic. A steep downturn, but ruinous is yet to be seen. The entire market seems to be up shit’s creek at the moment so I’m loath to ring the doomsday bell on this one.
CASUALS get amnesia. Then there are those of us that have the self control to wait until a game comes out and watch reviews to see if said game is worth the investment
Im glad this happened to CDPR, and I sincerely hope it happens to more gaming companies. To me, this is what "speaking with your wallet" looks like. "Gaming Company" puts out a product that the consumers are dissatisfied with, "Gaming Company" takes a massive financial hit. Its what should happen
