Cyberpunk 2077: FF:06:B5 – My Last Video as a Full-Time YouTuber

So, that’s all chooms: If you’re curious why I’m hanging up my mantis-blades, please read the below!

As a massive fan of CDPR and Cyberpunk 2077 from day one and never one to trash it or them (Apart from highlighting the risks of oversharing roadmaps), it has been my honour to entertain and inform you over this last year, I will forever be grateful for the fun, and the time I spent with you, thank you for your viewership and support that allowed me to entertain you.

It was so exciting when 1.6 and ER dropped as it looked like I was actually making it as a YouTuber, but since then, either because my content is actually just not that great, or because I refused to clickbait you and waste your time like other channels do (or for any number of a thousand reasons I couldn’t begin to assess), the algorithm just doesn’t push my videos in the same way as it did when I first started and everyone was still hating on or had forgotten about CP2077. The result; subs have ground to a halt, views plummeted and now I’m making the equivalent of 1 hour of minimum wage per day and with each new video it blips up but then drops further again in the subsequent 24-48 hours. It’s been this way for a while now.

When it looked like no further patches were coming between 1.61 and PL I tried to diversify into other games so that the content wasn’t just drama or Cyberpunk clickbait engineered to keep you on the hook. Of course relatively nobody cared about secrets in Borderlands or Guardians of the Galaxy, or watching me do a new-release let’s play – fair enough. I ended up under pressure to get content out before other YouTubers or at least at the same time as them, but despite all my efforts to gain early access keys, I still had to buy every game at launch. I just cannot compete and cannot continue to do operate this way.

I’m gutted. Doing this full time has gone from being within my grasp to an unfeasible pipe-dream both financially and from a time-spent perspective. I feel like I’ve been slapped back into my place firmly. I should have listened to myself lol! My channel income doesn’t come close to covering my overheads, let alone supporting my family. But hey, at least I got a taste of success, it was fun while it lasted. It really felt like I’d made it! During the good months I was getting approached a lot and turned down several sponsorships because I didn’t think they were things you’d want to see, from BenQ screen lights to a paid RAID Shadow Legends sponsor segment. There was no way I was pushing that crap. It is crap. I wasn’t about to endorse it for a couple of grand. Part of me wishes I had, as 2k would have kicked this ball along another month or two… As for my recent attempt at “merch”.. signs point to it being too little too late.

So it’s time to move on, I don’t know what I’m going to do yet, I see CDPR have speculative applications for Cyberpunk 2077’s sequel, and while I’m not sure what kind of hole a handsomeTez shaped peg would fit into, I’m going to drop them a CV. Maybe I could work on quests, or provide some VO if I was lucky, but in all likelihood I’ll just find another minimum wage without as much lifting as my last one, or maybe some remote programming work if I can get my brain to work again! All in all I’m really quite embarrassed that I recently opened up to a couple of friends and family members about what I was up to, right before things flatlined, the feeling of being a failure yet again is rough. I considered getting my moobs out, but don’t think it would help… 😂

I may still make a video here and there for fun if I find the time, but the analytics shows me the other channels’ videos my viewers watch so I know what gets clicked on, and I’ll not be making “wow this patch changes everything” or “all dumpsters in Cyberpunk 2077 rated” so I wont be recommended by the big A.

If you ever think anyone would enjoy my videos, please share them because I made these videos with passion and love for gaming, and I’m not taking them down, so the more people that get to enjoy them the better, helping or making people laugh ROCKS! But yeah, short of suddenly getting say 100k subs and a livable wage, I wont be returning full time, and I KNOW this isn’t going to happen because my content just isn’t that good, I’m a boring old fart😂! But would hate for them to go unseen just because I stopped.

I have created a sister channel called “Team Tez Gaming”, for my community to upload videos to for fun – I can’t wait to see what they come up with, I’ll be watching. Show them some support here:

Just remember, if it seems too good to be true, it is. We’re all hungry for news, but every time we click that bait, we just empower channels to keep making those videos and smaller YouTubers will keep falling by the wayside. I don’t want you to waste your time, there are too few hours for gaming as it is.

One last time. “Meow”

Thanks for watching!
Take care
Tez

  1. Sorry it didn’t work out like you wanted it to but if it makes any difference man, you got me through some tough times. When my pain gets really bad, your videos always make me laugh and I can’t tell you how grateful I am for that. Don’t be a complete stranger. Drop us a line and let us know you’re doing OK every once in a while.

You are epic, Tez. No bs.

  2. @Tez – My Dude – This sucks! I've been in a similar boat in the past – The "jumped in with both feet and it didn't work out" boat. (Including the announcements to family and friends and all that.)
Take a break to let your stress go – Absolutely.
But maybe don't give up on it completely. Part time is a thing.
I gave up on my thing completely. The whole nine yards – Threw in the towel, sold the equipment, burned the bridges.
I still regret that. I should have just taken a step back to regroup.
But let me say – Your videos are good. You just didn't get the blessing of the algorithm.
    THIS TIME.
So maybe it's just the last one as a full-timer –
    FOR NOW…
Either way – Good luck on new adventures.

Sorry. This is a bit rambling. Writing it on my phone because I didn't want to wait.
Lastly: Remember, no matter where you go – There you are.
    Oh – And… Meow.

  3. Legit so gutted!!! Are you leaving completely? I hope not! Just want you to know that I’ve LOVED your videos and your amazing, helpful (and also hilarious) content! Its so nice finding someone else who is obsessed with gaming and also allllll the 80s stuff so I’m always around if you want to chat and nerd out about Cyberpunk, Hogwarts Legacy or The Witcher! How will I know what happens in Dead Space without you?? Because I’m still to scared to play it! 😂

In summary, you’re awesome, it’s been awesome. So so wish I’d found your channel sooner!!

  4. Man, I'm sorry your channel didn't work out, but I hope you picked up some skills doing this that you can use to find steady work. Your videos were well produced and well thought out, so you clearly have a good head for this kind of work. Here's hoping you hit on something you enjoy and brings in the bacon. Good luck, and thanks for all the hard work you put into the channel!

  5. Well Tez…I hope you are just saying you'll be back occasionally, just not full-time. I have to admit that my main interest in your channel was those great Cyberpunk 2077 commentaries, to which, I'm proud to say, I contributed a tiny bit. As for your theory… The human mind has evolved to see patterns and relationships. Generally they are real, but sometimes we are tricked by our own psyches into seeing something that isn't really there. So…perhaps you're right, although it seems like a very obscure interpretation…and consider, perhaps we don't yet have the final crucial clue to solve this enigma, whatever it is. I'm not fascinated by puzzles like this [if indeed it's a puzzle at all] and I remain content with the thought that all will be revealed in time..or not. Anyhow…good luck to you, mate…and I look forward to hearing from you again with whatever you feel like sharing with us.

  6. Hey Tez. It's completely understandable if you take a step back from YT and regroup. If in the meantime you find something else that gives you more of what you're looking for, more power to you. That being said, I'll tell you this: your content is why I decided to start playing Mass Effect LE. You're one of the reasons I decided to do more playthroughs on Cyberpunk; just to try out some of the builds I saw you showcasing with your playing. For that matter, my level of excitement over playing the Witcher 3 was taken to the next level by your enthusiasm for that game.
Your humor and insight are fantastic, and your vids are a quality addition to the content-verse.

If you have to step away, here's hoping you the best in your endeavors. Or if you decide after a break that you prefer to come back, know that we'll be here for you.
In either case, look forward to keeping in touch, and thank you for the excellence you bring.
    Cheers.

  7. Sorry you didn't get to do it your way, youtube is just fickle, I see many creators struggle and get dumped by the wayside, they made/make great content but it's maybe irregular or not what the algorithm wants, it's sad to see as YT used to be a place you could find unique channels and content, now "suggested" and "home" are 10-15 videos of the same thing, what ever is the flavour of the week, I guess I was lucky to find you before you had to leave, I have enjoyed your content so much, I love/loved 2077 so much, even with all the hate I still did, and actually finding someone who enjoyed the game too and made videos, just cool.

All the best with what ever comes next, I hope to see a video every now and then if you get the chance.

  8. Don't give up! When you have free time and there's something exciting to make a video about, make a video. Don't try and push it, your content was awesome and everyone enjoyed it, and you should too. I hope to see another video from you in the future, when you have the time and there's exciting content to make videos about! ☮️🧡

  9. Thanks for everything Tez. Thank you for your integrity. I believe you are the more intelligent content creator for CP2077.
Sure, at the beginning, I did click the "this last patch change everything" videos. But after a while, your channel was the only one left for me to dig into Cyberpunk because you're not treating us viewers like decerebrate dumb people.
I liked your style, your such distinctive peaceful tone.
It really has been a great pleasure.

Your work did matter to me. Thank you for that.

  10. Don't worry about us, your life, your family come first. Do your best to secure an income is more important.
As for CP2077, it's a nice game, but it's not a live service game, so, things are going slow.
Wish you nothing but the best in getting a good job, with stable income, once life is stable, then maybe do some videos for leisure or maybe update things like your new job, things with family.

  11. You have the best Cyberpunk 2077 videos. Best. Your wisdom is rare in this space. Your dedication to the craft is a shining example and I sure hope you don’t fully give it up because you have talent and a fantastic sounding voice. Side note: there aren’t a lot of games that hit like cyberpunk has. However, who knows what will land next? And the BenQ sponsorship wouldn’t have been horrible. I get it. But people understand that sponsorships are part of a YouTube creator gig.

Thank you for helping to reignite the joy of discovering gaming and the magic of discovering the Easter eggs in my favorite game. Thank you.

May you find the well-deserved success soon. You are smart and clever and the world needs smart and clever right now.

  12. Hey mate keep your chin up. If you want to take a break take a break! And if you want to come back with totally different non cyberpunk content I think a lot of people will still want to see you develop your style and voice
