Cyberpunk 2077: Dogshit AI, lack of persistence and total disconnect from the rest of the world

The good:
+ CDPR really tried to add content to the game by creating these random events when members of gang or faction would chase/assault members of another faction/gang.
+ Members of the rival gangs/factions do tend to fight one another if artificially brought together by the player.

The bad:
– AI is utter dogshit, especially when it comes to driving. Same can be said about the NPC pedestrians, who are happily jumping in front of your car.
– Lack of persistence, meaning that when you move far enough from NPCs or vehicles they simply vanish/seize to exist/are erased from the gameworld. This makes for a _very_ poor sandbox experience.
– Total disconnect from the pre-established mechanic of NCPD involvement. No matter how much damage, chaos or casualties NPCs rack up, NCPD won’t react. But when the player so much as scrapes anyone, NCPD will descend upon him/her like God’s wrath.
– In the absence of proper system of factions/gangs and their reputation, and/or associated mechanics, all of this is essentially meaningless. These are not proper dynamically generated missions you can take part in for one of the sides. In this video, for example, you can’t help to stop the truck, drive it to the safespot and rob/loot its content; or help defend it and score reputation increase/reward with the faction/corporation owning said truck.

Can’t help but to point out the devs made the target truck completely invulnerable to compensate for how ineptly AI does the driving. 🙂

  1. CP was a good concept but a terrible execution. Take the NPCs you see and how often you will see the exact same one over and over, sometimes on the same block you will see three copies of the same goofy NPC walking back and forth. It could of been great, it is not.
