If you investigate the messages, you will follow the dynamics of Judy's former relationship and the conflicts between the two. She also demonstrates that she has not overcome the past because of a photo. Oh, and on Judy's computer they may have messages involving the love past. I don't remember now. There is more reading involved, but it can be interesting. Hence the user can "pause" the video to read the text.
