Cyberpunk 2077 1.63 CTDs? Try This

Read more about Cyberpunk 2077➜ https://cyberpunk2077.mgn.tv

I’m a gonk, I should have spent more time troubleshooting Cyberpunk 2077 1.63 patch! It works now and has fixed a lot of hitching and stuttering with DLSS Frame Generation in Cyberpunk for me! I finally got the update working by doing an uninstall (my second try) only this time making sure to check the box to delete the user files and save games. Previous uninstall and verifying/repairing the files did nothing. So I think it has to be a conflict in the user data? I’m not an engineer so this is my best guess.

Please give this method ago if you were one of the ones having issues like I was.

  1. I’ve managed to get 1.63 working (feel like a gonk) and it’s improved Frame Generation for me! It is objectively better now. If you’re still having issues with the patch try what I outline here. You know, it’s a testament to how few serious issues I’ve had with Cyberpunk 2077 that I’ve gotten so out of touch with troubleshooting it was easier to make a video than go deeper to find a fix. Anyway, I hope this helps!
Thanks to @r1pbuck for this instruction list:

    Steam Game reinstallation [from CDPR]:

Please perform a clean installation of the game. Carefully follow all the steps below.

    1. Backup your save files. If possible, transfer them to an external device (for example, SD card).
Saves are located here: %userprofile%Saved GamesCD Projekt RedCyberpunk 2077
    2. Disable Epic Games Cloud [or Steam Cloud] for Cyberpunk 2077.
    3. Uninstall Cyberpunk 2077.
    4. Go to your Epic Games directory [or Steam directory] and see if there is a Cyberpunk 2077 folder, if so, remove it.
    5. Remove Cyberpunk 2077 folder from here: %userprofile%Saved GamesCD Projekt Red
    6. Restart your PC.
    7. Install Cyberpunk 2077 again, on SSD for the best performance. Do not install any mods.

If you will be installing the game on the same partition as you have the Operating System installed to ensure that the game won't be blocked by Windows 10 permissions settings make sure to install it on the drive root and not nested in some folders.
    8. Run the game through Epic Games Launcher [or REDlauncher, in this case] and see if the issue persists.
    9. If it's fixed, copy your save files to the newly created Cyberpunk 2077 folder in the location from step #1.
    10. Re-enable Epic/Steam Games Cloud if you want.

  2. Thanks for the update, choom. Glad you got it working meow.
Backupping your saves is always a good thing to do whenever you're doing any kind of adjusting. I have my backup folders in my external hard drive for all my games.

  3. Is the Johnny Silverhand holo an addition to the game or are you using a mod?
I remember at launch we could get it as a junk item and equip it, but that was quickly patched out

  4. Good work Tez! I'm on Steam and we do not get that Uninstall/Reinstall option, but doing a manual process is easy enough [I'll post it down below]…it sure worked for me. As for your 'hitching' problem…you might want to do a clean install of your video drivers. I work on the theory that 'Game Ready Drivers' usually are not 'game ready' after a game update…not for a few upgrades themselves. For NVidia drivers I use a freeware utility called NVCleanstall that is dead easy to use to do clean reinstallation of your NVidia driver, and even roll them back to earlier versions if necessary. Highly recommended.

  5. Hey Tez! Glad you got it working. Looks great, but man that's a lot of settings we have to juggle to get it working.
Well, seems like it to me, but I'm older than you, so… It might just be me. LoL

  6. I had deleted and reinstalled game the night before this patch did not do the local file removal, Yet have zero issues so far, if not no biggie, full file deletion, then re-install
