Sorry CDProjektRED, I don’t buy your nonsensical security problem to release a bug patch when you said you would.

You misspelled Cyberpunk in the title.
they got ransomware virus … they got locked out of their files … they had to restore old files from backup
they have to double check (which version) and (is that the fixed version)
check your facts
You don't know how the attackers gained access. It could have been by using a developer machine, like opening an attachment for example and installing a keylogger. I imagine they had to check all machines in the network, not just the server. Meaning, during all that time the developers couldn't work. I understand that calling out CDPR is the thing to do for clicks now, but people are just looking for things to complain at this point.
The hackers did actually delete a bunch of stuff and forced CDPR to use back ups, I dont know how often they back up their servers but in my opinion there shouldn't have been this big of a delay, maybe a week or 2 not 4 weeks. Although, the devs probably all spent a week comparing what they had already done to what they had back ups for. I am glad to hear that this isn't going to push back the release by multiple months, or be used an excuse to do so.
I have over 250 hours into Cyberpunk 2077, and have thoroughly enjoyed it but I would advise anyone without a high end PC to avoid this game until atleast the first DLC's come out or if this next patch fixes most of the issues.
Not quite correct … perhaps…I heard the term ransom used , which means the source code could be unaccessible , it would be encrypted and totally unuseable , poorly implemented backups can be infected too
As someone who has sunk 180+ hrs into it. I can confidently say F this game.
I thought part of the hack was ransomware as well. If they locked up the work they had and the back ups did not have the latest work on patch could that have caused the delay? It is not like non of us have never saved for hours at end playing a game then died. I know you said it would not effect a normal company but by there actions I do not have faith they would do the correct thing. The state the game was released is enough evidence for me they may not be following standard quality standards
I don't care about this game anymore.
I feel like the moments passed for this title. No ones talking about it, the excitements been killed.
"The dog ate my homework."
Man the true next gen versions better be what they really worked on all this time and this current build is just shitty last gen stuff but we live in the bad timeline
They are probably delaying it because in the hurry to release the game in any state whatsoever they accrued engineering debt; and in a hurry to patch it up quick to be less bad at any cost whatsoever they accrued more engineering debt. So any schedule they try to come up with is being devastated by an avalanche of technical difficulties caused by the game codebase.
Whether there's a scenario in which a hack would actually delay next major patch? Plausibly, if there's new online functionality foreseen, because then you need an external audit of the codebase. But this wouldn't be a good decision, i mean, people are waiting on quality improvements, not on new features; so you might as well disable and stub out online functionality, just make the game behave as if it's offline. Leave the options and such there but greyed out – you already have a stable audience for the game, they'll know that those are placeholders for later, no problem.
Also there's audit of studio, but this shouldn't be adding more than a week of delay.
Lol, even the patches get delayed.
Patches won't fix the actual problems with the game. The glitches only distract from the fundamental dogshit in the game's design, story, and lack of real roleplaying.
I don't think anyone even cares anymore. Aside from their reputation or possible lawsuit, there is really no reason for them to patch it
I've never seen a company rise and then fall so quickly. They became modern Bioware a lot more quickly then I thought they would
I expected this delay once the hack was announced.
Im lucky that amazon cancelled my order for cyberpunk 2077
Maybe they should take 'when its ready' to heart for once, rather than continue their bad relationship with deadlines.
Then again who cares about this game anymore?
The servers were encrypted and had to go back to old updates, who knows how long those backups are, why do you assume things you don't know?
I will never praise Cyberpunk, but yeah the hack thing was unfortunate.
Have you found any cool legendary gear?
I was waiting to do my 3rd play through until this patch. I've done a Nomad and Streetkid and was waiting for 1.2 to do a Corpo but all it does is offer some lines of dialogue and impacts how you meet Jackie, nothing else. I was hoping this game would be my next Mass Effect or Fallout New Vegas in terms of story and replay value but it's been a letdown. The game isn't terrible but it's no where near as great as I was hoping. Even when 1.2 comes out, I'm not sure I start my Corpo play through right away. Maybe I'll just wait for modders to fix it. Congrats CDPR, you're the next Bethesda.
Even as someone with a basic understanding of how companies and computers work I saw this excuse for the smoke screen that it is.
yfw even the patches for this shit game are delayed
lmao it just came out that devs couldn't acces internal tools on the servers because of the hack, you must feel real big brain rn…
If I’m lucky this game will be ready for the summer. 🙁
Do you smell that? snif-snif….Smells like BS.
The more likely scenario is that the game is such a mess that the time needed to fix it will be extensive.
People will always repeat past behaviors. They will continue to delay things. It isn't going to stop.
