Cyberpunk 2077 has received a new update in the form of patch 1.61. This new version brings with it most notably FSR or FidelityFX Super Resolution 2.1, much improved version of AMDs original 1.0 release. How then does this impact performance and visuals with lower end and entry level hardware?

Thanks for watching 🙂

  1. this is why AMD needs its own dedicated temporal up-scaler. FSR 2 literally uses GPU cores in upscaling unlike FSR 1.0 which is just stretched with aggressive AA. FSR 3.0 will have an even bigger performance impact.

  2. "Because it owes me £170 and I am determined to get the money back somehow."

…that's sounds kinda menacing. Almost imagined that little Arc card tied to a chair about to be tortured. Then again, making it run Cyberpunk probably is torture…

  3. I was using FSR 2.0 mod on Cyberpunk on my GTX 1050 but thankfully they added 2.1 that removes trailing issue with 2.0 mod, because of mod that was few MB file but the game decided to download all the files I heard on steam update was 1-10GB but I got 49GB update 🙁

  4. Can't believe cards are still being made with that thin full aluminium heat spreader, it doesn't do anything and the single fan has to spin like a helicopter to keep it 1 degree below lava

  5. i'm sorry but fsr1 is not comparable to 2 at all. you could lower that athlon to 800p and use fsr 2.1 ultra performance and it would still look better than 1080p with fsr 1.0 ultra performance. the visual quality difference is just too large.

  6. They really need to fix the draw distance in this game. It's the biggest thing that breaks immersion for me. It's so distracting. I doubt there'll ever be a mod that fully fixes it because it seems to be a limitation of the RED Engine.

  7. G'day Random,
🤔is this the 2nd time it may be better not to download the CP2077 update?
I think from memory it was the 1.5 update that broke Kepler + older nVIDIA support so a 745-750Ti would still work, but owners of better SKUs like 760-780Ti users had to stick with 1.31,
now it seems for lower performance GPUs that struggle to get 1080p Low @ 30-40fps will need to stick with the older versions of 1.52 or 1.6 instead of updating this time as they will get better performance.
It is going to make it hard for Lower Budget nVIDIA & AMD owners to know what version to download for a playable experience if they buy CP2077 now it is getting cheaper & more affordable for them.

  8. You should try adjusting the target resolution (i.e, 1080p -> 900p) and find out what you need to set it to get 30fps with FSR on the Athlon. If the image looks better than FSR 1.0 UP at the same FPS, then it is a win even for that chip. Just saying, "It performs worse when I set my target resolution to 1080p and the setting to ultra performance" means literally nothing when you're dealing with upscaling technologies with totally different outputs.

  9. I have really been enjoying playing this game lately and on my second play through. And so far the only thing I noticed that had changed was that people walk around with glowing umbrellas in the rain now. Briefly tried FSR 1.0 on my first playthrough and it just made it a stuttering mess. My i5 8400 with my GTX 1080ti seems to handle the game just fine at 1080p at decent settings anyway. I have actually found I got better performance improvenments by adjusting a few settings like turning off motion blur and the film grain filter of all things.

  10. About the Athlon 3000G, what would be the gains if you used 16GB of Ram but at 3600mhz instead of 3200? I've heard on some other channel that in 2022 (i.e. modern games released today) the difference, when utilizing integrated graphics, has become noticeable.
Would be cool to test it properly.

  11. As GPU shortage ended, AMD is back to chasing hype (competing with Nvidia) and from low-end gamers is expected to spend some money on more affordable newer cards. FSR 1.0 was a welcome crutch during the GPU draught but now companies would no longer support it.

  12. I thought about picking up this card for $139 usd, could I run it with my 3070 or RX 6700 on my x470 CX board to record with ? also it's hard to review a game that cost $59 when new on a video card that cost $139

  13. 3:53 you can clearly tell that FSR 2.1 Performance generates a superior image compared to FSR 1.0 Balanced. It's a lot better. Using FSR 1.0 the top of the blue car door is gone, the left power-line is missing, and so on…

  14. Something to note is that if you don't want to upgrade to this version, you can still play the old build if you CP2077 on GoG, as it's DRM free and you can simply just launch the EXE of the game and not update in GoG Galaxy.

For example, I still use build 1.31 on my Zenbook as it still has the old FidelityFX CAS Static render scale slider which was sadly removed. FSR 2.1 was a welcome update on my tower though, but the game just looks and runs worse on my Zenbook with this build so I'm glad I have an older build to revert back to.
