CD Projekt Red's GREED Takes Over – Cyberpunk 2077 Executives Get Huge Bonus & Developers Get LESS

Welp. The board of directors for CD Projekt Red claimed the rushed launch of Cyberpunk 2077 was on them and they said they would hold themselves accountable. That doesn’t seem to be the case as they have earned a total of $28 million to split amongst the small group of 5 while another $28 million is spread out amongst ~900 employees. No moral grandstanding here, but you have to ask when is there enough money for someone. What if $8 million was added to the employee pool? Real questionable actions here as far as I’m concerned.

  1. Bonuses are something that is outside of your usual pay, employees should be happy they got one. Tbh just kinda sounds like people are being ungrateful. I would expect my ceo to get a way bigger bonus than me. I feel like at this point your just looking for reasons to be mad about cyberpunk at this point the videos are becoming petty. You lost a subscriber here you don't understand business but try to talk about it and do suck click bait videos to shit on a game you claim to like constantly

  2. Not stanning, but they did sell a lot of copies and the refund thing was kinda overblown. How many copies did they refund? Maybe they didn’t live up to expectations but if they made a profit I don’t see the issue

  3. I think this is one of those things that you can't truly understand unless you reach the position of executive at a successful, publicly traded company. We'll never know but it would be interesting to see what a CEO-version of Matty or you or I would do/think in this situation.

It's easy to say that you'd stick to your Ideals until you're looking at a 6 million dollar bonus check. Just saying.

  4. very few make it out with their lives, even fewer with their souls intact.

Those without souls at least have padded pockets tho, it appears. Take it as you will it's big business $$$

  5. Just start mailing boxes of "Rubber" dog poop with copies of Deus Ex & Blade Runner Directors Cut enclosed.
Accompanied with a letter that reads
"Dear Adam…It's Never Too Late to Become Breathtaking. Please play game & watch movie for some real inspiration.
Now please go fix your F'n game.
    Sincerely – The Customer's.
    Thank you."
    to CDPR headquarters.

    They'll eventually get the picture…maybe.

  6. Honestly this makes CDPR look good in comparison with everyone else.

Pretty much every AAA company is far worse and makes this seem perfectly reasonable. This is definitely no Activision and it is definitely no Disney ($300 million in bonuses were paid in bonuses for frozen most of the animators got $0).

  7. Why the outrage? Because all game "journalists" jumped on the hate wagon…but if you look at actual refunds issued…hardly enough to not make it a huge success.

YouTube patreon beggars do not understand business…at all.

And like Bethesda has been doing for about 24 years now…they fix it as they go.

    Nothing to see here folks.

  8. Remember when people worshipped CDPR because the made 1 great game? (Tw3, i love that game, and 2 very good games tw1 and tw2) CDPR isn't 100% evil or 100% good, there are good people and bad people everywhere.

  9. It would be interesting to see a conversation between Matty and Colin Moriarty about this subject, I think Colin would have a very different take about it…

  10. How the bloody hell can someone think its ok for 5 ppl to split 28 mil, while the 800+, who actually do the work, split 29 mil, and think that's ok??? Proves why business ethics courses are just as f-ing dumb as liberal arts courses, complete waste of money. Funny thing is too, it was Badowski hypeing and lying more than the rest of them.

  11. Based on the assumption that their salary is based on 'x' percentage of net income of the company by contract, I feel they are entitled to every penny of it. Wetter you think this kind of salary construction is acceptable or not is a different question. They must have done something right if the profit is that high, maybe most of the profit comes from other sources besides Cyberpunk, like the GOG store. Now I do agree that these numbers are insane and I too think that profit sharing should be more evenly over the company as a whole. But this is how every company works, all top job positons in major companies are bonus based. Realize that this also means that if they don't generate any profit their income plummets like crazy. I personally think it counter productive for the company in the long run, cause it rewards quick wins over longer sustainable growth and healthy company, but hey that's how every thing works nowadys, sadly..

  12. That's capitalism and wage slavery for you, where the wealth is controlled by the top 1-3% while the slaves that they exploit receive mere crumbles in return. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

  13. If you are the ceo and took the risk to build your own Company from the ground up with allot of your own cash knowing that it could all fail and you would lose all your cash and maybe your future with this , arent you suppossed to get the most of the profit ??

  14. Matty's "philosophical lesson" is basically about the underpinnings of capitalism, at its core. That massive disparity between what a few ppl at the top decide to take for themselves vs. what allll of the others who worked & produced that value get is the most basic problem with how modern society functions.

With wealth comes political power & influence, the ability to lobby politicians to get what you want at the expense of what everyone else wants, create your own "charities" to avoid taxes and activist organizations to support your personal beliefs about how things should be done, or to just run for office. That kind of wealth is multi-generational and lasts almost forever, as long as you can imagine, generation after generation after generation born into privilege, endless opportunities and "success" that they never have to compete for. The wealth of billionaires could last for 15 generations if they never made another dime, but they continue hoarding.

Modern capitalism has essentially created a new aristocratic class, neofeudalism, where a small percentage of ppl own everything and everyone else works for them just to survive. And part of that bargain is that you will never be paid for the value your work produces, you will be paid as little as they can possibly pay you, and the difference will be used to increase your boss's personal wealth. Bc they rly didnt earn it. Not anything close to what they pay themselves. Executive pay has skyrocketed over the last 4 decades while wages have barely budged, bc theyve decided to give themselves a bigger & bigger share. It's unsustainable madness, and the video game industry doesnt even scratch the surface.
