CD Projekt Red RESPONDS To Cyberpunk 2077 Controversy – Apology Video & Update Roadmap

While there are contradictions here, I have to be honest. You didn’t see anyone from Bethesda after Fallout 76 or anyone from EA after Anthem. I applaud the accountability here, but there are multiple conflicting statements within CD Projekt Red’s apology video in regards to Cyberpunk 2077 that really surprised me. I’m talking glaring oversights here. Between that and an update roadmap, we have plenty to discuss today.

  1. If I was in charge I would take the heat and immediately announce “Escape from NY” the game. A dark RPG where you play as Snake Plissken in third person. With new dynamic combat AI and no difficulty level! Just survival. Releasing when it’s ready! Maybe if I win the lotto I’ll make that game for us. Plus Kurt Russell can still voice a young version of his game self

  2. Solid overview Matty. I agree with a lot of what you said. I’m playing on the Xbox Series S, my experience hasn’t been as bad – but I kinda feel like it’s one of those ‘I can only speak for myself’ situations because of how rampant the issues have been on console.

  3. Big news from CD projekt equals= shitty apology for poor decision making
leading to more players asking for refunds
People just don't want to admit it CD projekt Red leadership just wants to blame covid-19 they want to blame last gen but they do not want to blame themselves for their failure!
Even if cyberpunk was just for Xbox x series PC and PlayStation 5 we would have the same result for the game same issues and the same lame-ass apology.
After all I have talked to people from PlayStation 5 PC the new Xbox and they all report the same issues that last gen goes through on cyberpunk. the issues are not exclusive to last-gen!
Even that leader from CD projekt apology video even said that it was a bad decision releasing the game
So many people besides him are ready to blame other stuff for the failure they don't realize if it was that simple cdproject wouldn't be under investigation for they wouldn't be under investigation with the consumer agency they wouldn't be facing multiple class lawsuits if it was just because the last gen lol

  4. At least CDPR is doing better than what Bethesda did with Skyrim on PS3. That version was borked for almost a quarter of a year and delayed all dlc for that system by months, and they barely apologized for it.

  5. They didn't even talk about all the cut features like the Wanted System, the NPC's having a day and night cycle, every choice matters, and most importantly, Out when it's ready. Just gave a pat on the back for the PC versions and talked about bug fixes for the console versions.

  6. Know what other games need re-reviews are the games that add MicroTransactions into the game after the reviews praise it for not having that in the game. Assassin Creed Valhalla being one of those titles recently. They not only added the XP Boost but the made the enemies match your power level minus 50 power in low power level regions and made all Bosses match your Power Level. Like they are trying to incentives you go get that XP Boost. But my point is games need to be re-reviewed when they do crap like that, changing completely how you play the game deserves a reevaluation of the game.

  7. I wished more developers behaved like this when they screwed up. At least now, I know the game is going to get fixed. I am aware, modern games are way harder and time consuming to make then they used to be. At least they don't carry on like Funcome with Conan Exiles.

  8. The game plays really well on PS5. I've had 2 maybe 3 crashes. The occasional glitch, I've grown to accept glitches in games as long as there not game breaking. CyberPunk is a game I think truly will rebound in time. This is a good game.

  9. I doubt they weren't aware that the console version had more crashes and framerate drops on lastgen. But I managed to play this game for 77 hours without too much issues on xbox one. So I'll grand them that it is possible that they didn't experience the full scope of the problems before launch. Based on my experience I also believe CDPR can fix this game within two months.

  10. Whilst I really appreciate someone apologising for making a disastrous decision, I think this could have been all avoided.

CPR should have just focussed on releasing the pc and next-gen version of the game.

The idea of the game is amazing, however because it is a dense world of ideas, it’s not a project you can just knock out and port to other systems.

Ideas are important to the game and I think players want to be stunned when they play the game.

I think players would be more forgiving if the game satisfied most of the expectations CPR implied.

I think it’s possible to turn this game around, but we are looking at 2 years at the least. I don’t think anyone can justify making customers spend 60 dollars,Euros or British pounds on a beta test version of the game.

  11. I just finished Cyberpunk on the series X. Played about 40 hours. It wasn’t until I got to around 30-40 that I started to see bugs and have issues. The farther I got into the game the more there were which was sad to see. The last mission of the game was bugged and I couldn’t talk to an NPC (it was optional) before continuing.

  12. You know they never intended for DLCs of this game to be free. think about just how much money they're going to be losing by not charging for those DLCs, they're missing out on millions and millions of sales. Which they deserve.

Edit: and yes, the fact that DLCs are coming before the next gen patch is completely ass backwards. So bad. And of course the white knight simps are going to be like oh thank you thank you let me open my mouth wider

  13. They normally use a 3rd party QA team, and because of COCID they couldn’t use them. So 5-7 QA testers in house, on brand new PS4s didn’t find all the problems. I wonder… maybe we should start looking at actual facts about the QA before roasting them for QA

Also: how is 2nd half of 2021 bad? They probably had so little time to work on the new console versions of the game because they just came out and if they were trying to release on old gens then that was the last thing on their plate. At least that’s how I see it…

  14. Are they taking the piss? The next gen update come outs AFTER free DLC? The game runs well on next gen, but at so many points the game looks like shit with so many low res textures, it’s sloppy. It’s an absolute joke how we have to wait until AFTER free DLC to have the game run in 4K on next gen, piss off CDPR wish I would’ve refunded it now

  15. The DLC will be free. Will mostly be new quests/gigs and new clothing. The expansions, however, will NOT be free. Their expansions are practically their own games with their own characters, content and stories.

  16. I haven't touched the game for two weeks hoping that the next gen update will pop up soon and thenI can replay the game. But waiting till the second half of 2021 is just fucked up man! Its just gonna be sitting there in my shelf catching dust. Because I've finished most of the game.

  17. I love how you just take everything out of context. Let us see :

    – The initial launch date of April, 2020 was the one used to determine all the other launch dates, most specifically the next gen update which was scheduled for Q1 2021. When there were 3 delays to the initial launch date it was more than obvious that they will push further the other dates. They did not want to give specific dates as the first one badly backfired which is to be commended.
    Yes, you are overreacting !
    – Free DLCs were to be scheduled for Q2 2021, after the next gen update. The console update has been pushed back, but the Free DLCs look to be on par with what was announced back in March-April 2020.
    – there is some reason to what they are saying about the console testing as it was done remotely via servers on probably pristine machines. A console that is 6-7 years back in your home is probably not that well maintained (including cleaning dust and changing the thermal paste ) than the machines used for testing. They underestimated how badly a 6-7 years old console under poor maintenance might perform.

  18. Ok pisstakes aside, serious question: are the next gen consoles going to be able to handle a next gen version? I've been under the impression the only reason it plays ok on next Gen is because it's a last gen version. I suppose only time will tell
