DEGENERATION- that’s the word that comes into my mind when I play CyberPunk 2077. A game that received a negative reception by the critics and the gaming community because of its buggy release and glitches even after staying in development for an extensive period of 8 years. This world, richly jam packed with action, thrill, beauty and immersion was discarded because of its few flaws without giving it any chance to prove itself. I guess that’s why it appealed to me so much when it was released as I truly resonate with broken things. This artistic masterpiece enchants you with it’s captivating facade. I can strongly relate to this game, as you can feel Night City come to life at night, while in the day, it’s flaws and the disgust it holds become apparent.
As for the story, V moves to the city with the aspirations of becoming a living legend and to make name for himself. However as fate would have it, he found himself flying too close to the Sun. The pursuit of fame puts him in a difficult dilemma where he must either lose himself and achieve it or he could stay alive and live like a normal sentient being. This is the predicament you face when you want to be at the top of Arasaka, when you believe you can have it all without considering the consequences, thinking that your flagrant boldness will will go unpunished until you confront them. It is then you realize that time is the ultimate equalizer, diminishing any sense of grandiosity.
