Don't fear the reaper!!!!!!!!!!11111
streetkid V does solo run with the Sun
nomad V does the Star
Corpo V does the Tower
the most Based V who has become bff with Johnny does solo run into Temperance
Have you noticed the endings correspond to a different stage of grief?
The Star ending is Denial. Despite the still-dire condition of V, both they and Panem leave Night City with the most hope of all the endings despite how very unlikely a hidden contact in Arizona could outperform Arasaka who created the Relic or the FIA who have dedicated neuroscientists and the AI that could cure V (with complications)
Don't Fear the Reaper is full of Anger. What else could it be other than going on a suicidal rampage in Arasaka Tower?
The Sun ending is nothing but Bargaining. That one last gig mentality and grasping at the help of Mr Blue Eyes even when we know nothing about them is all about trying to get a better deal in exchange for more sacrifices. The Devil ending extends this further by either ending at Bargaining (literally selling your soul to Arasaka) or at Acceptance (telling Hellman that you can finally die on your own terms)
The Reaper ending is Depression. That's the only reason why V would see this as a solution even when the credits phone calls shows that V was loved and liked by so many people.
Finally, the Temperance ending is Acceptance. This is when V sees the bitter truth for what it is and makes the logical choice to at least give one more soul at a chance at a happy life. It is incredibly sweet on how Johnny resolves to treat this gift with utmost respect and treats V's body like a temple, abandoning all substance abuse and giving up his signature vice; smoking.
As a post-script, the Tower ending is the grief process in full. Denial was when V rejected the Langley job offer out of hand despite the fact having a desk job with blue skies and green trees outside ain't the worst thing in the cyberpunk world and immediately demanding to be returned to Night City.
Anger was when V was speaking very bitterly to Reed despite his best intentions.
A huge chunk of the epilogue was Bargaining. Starting with calling all of V's friends and that extended visit to Viktor's was one long Bargaining section.
Depression was getting accosted and literally hitting rock bottom from a single punch of that booyah thug.
Acceptance was listening to Misty one more time, just like at the start of Act 2 at V's then-lowest point. After getting better perspective on how to move on, V gains a little of their fire back, smirks a little and disappears into the crowd.
Had multiple different Vs with different endings. The first ending I did was the Star ending, leaving Night City with the Aldecados.
I decided to have at least one play through with the most antagonistic attitude towards Johnny and everyone else. He (V) was basically an a-hole. That locks you out from the Aldecado-ending (Panam hates you because you told Saul), as well as the ending with Rogue. If you’re antagonistic, you’re basically at the mercy of Arasaka.
You didn’t mention the new ending from the Phantom Liberty expansion. Basically losing 2 years of your life, your friends and the chrome. In this ending, my head-cannon is V managed to get a boatload of eddies from gigs to start a small business, hire Takemura as a bodyguard , since he’s on the run. Give him a new face and identity.
Phantom Liberty DLC ending I don't know I'm kind of conflicted it's a bittersweet ending to me that's probably the best ending for me cuz at the end at least I know that he will live on but at what cost
my favorite ending is that of the nomads, as well as being very beautiful it gives you that little hope that maybe they have found a method for the biochip. Consequently one could take this ending as the "canonical" ending of the game to epsandize this ending. But from what I understand they have no intention of continuing with V. I hope they at least bring back old characters… let's see what they will do with Cyberpunk Orion.
I think the star ending is the best one for a few reasons that all lead back to the feeling of hope and behind that happiness.
First off, nobodies can have a lot of talent. Unknown contacts can have crazy amounts of skill and talent, look at Song, Bartmoss, Alt, Spider, David and even V themself. No one knew who they where at the beginning. So many people in the world have crazy talents without needing connections to corps so I think its pretty likely someone is out there that can help V's condition.
But secondly, if there isn't a cure or treatment. V still gets to die surrounded by friends and family that value and love them.
You forgot about the mister blue eyes theory, I think it's possible that he can heal v and I think you also forgot about the meaning of the moon in thr cp universe… always preferred the nomad ending 2, but now I really believe vs biggest hope is to complete the moon mission and get mister blue eyes help. He still can join panam after that
Honestly as much as I like the Nomad ending… I disagree. Mostly because I don't if it's good for the Nomads. It's just too open ended. Say if V lived past 6 months and then died with the family and loved ones…. We don't know how it would affect the loved ones after. For example Panem might be even be died in the DLC ending. We just don't know enough about the nomad ending. Too many unknowns. At least in the DLC ending though if we didn't have any ties by the end, we could have the option to start over as a fixer. (Which I think is the best outcome for V.)
If I may…As much as the "Devil" ending sucks…If we were able to continue our story into Orion this ending would be a good one to Segway into…Say V becomes an ingram, then Arasaka finds him a body and he becomes whole again, but Arasaka being who they are but some kind of control device on him, making him their personal assassin/slave and the prologue is him breaking control from Arasaka.. Kind of the same if we do the "Tower" ending, maybe we find the NUSA actually suppressed V's abilities until they need him…A leash of sorts,.. And we play as V trying to break the hold…Panam's ending is open ended too… What if Mr. Blue eyes or So Mi reaches out V and brings him to the moon for the cure? My two cents 😁
Personally for me i believe Temperance is the best end V accepting that their body is just gonna krep deteriorating and it would do more harm than good to keep their body and most of us have become really close friends with Johnny at this point especially if you do Don't Fear The Reaper but choose to give the body over seems like you covering all bases of fucking up Arasaka, saving all your friends and loved ones especially in Johnny's case cause Rouge lives and it gives the best possible ending for the future V becomes and Engram and is taken beyond the wall so we know they're safe and if Johnny really misses his best friend he'll find a way to get V another body and find a way to give it to V in my mind thats the best ending we could get for our lovable duo
