Whilst Snipers are not the most numerous items in Cyberpunk 2077, the game still boasts some decent variety when it comes to varying models. From the unstoppable ‘Breakthrough’, to the silent ‘Overwatch’, or perhaps the explosive ‘O’Five’! This game has at least one entry for most sniper builds.
In this video I attempt to rank each sniper model, as well as their unique variants from worst to best, in order to determine which are most worth acquiring for your playthrough. Remember this list is my opinion, and the ranking inevitably changes when we consider it within the context of varying builds.
Either way, I hope this video provides you a decent overview to go away and decide which Sniper is best for you!

  1. small thing about the overwatch unable to pen walls, the silencer is treated as a regular weapon mod and so has the downsides that comes with attaching a suppressor on any other compatible weapon, that being less damage and removing penetration

  2. With the Ashura you move the smart target window around to manipulate which body part to aim for. Put heads in the lower half to get consistant headshots.
Edit: and put legs in the upper half to take them out.

  3. 1) I've had the o-Five detonate against a twig or a blade of grass so while it's powerful, it's too touchy for me.
    2) I've used the Ashura on a build that was designed around Smart weapons but the single-shot nature just drove me crazy.
    3) The Nekomata is a great all-rounder, especially for those players who aren't tied to the iconic weapons scattered throughout the game.
    4) The SPT32, like the Ashura, made me crazy with the single-shot action. However, I found that the damage wasn't a terrible tradeoff. Still, it became niche for me.
    5) Overwatch, as you noted, is THE stealth-sniper weapon. If that's the way you want to play, this is your weapon. The fact that you get it for free after doing the right mission is a bonus.
    6) Breakthrough is the bomb when building a 'kill everything' sniper. Mooks? Dead. Bosses? Dead. Take the right perks and get 30k headshot damage easily. The 4-shot mag FTW!

One thing I noticed when doing my first sniper playthrough is that, contrary to conventional wisdom, you can use a sniper rifle in MANY circumstances where you wouldn't think they'd be good like across a living room. Granted, I was also playing a stealthy sniper and I used Camo a lot but I found that a combination of a good sniper rifle, a shotgun (for those 'oh shit' moments), and a silenced pistol (cheap ammo for cameras etc.), carried me through the game.

Great video. I'm off to binge your others!

  4. Tech weapons win EVERY category for one reason. Shooting through walls is super OP. I almost kind of wish there were limits on it like only through certain weaker walls.

  5. "Being able to shoot everyone through walls without making a sound" => you're looking for buzzsaw + suppressor + legendary short circuit (+ ping).
It's so OP and fun for 5 minutes, yet, too OP and boring after 5 minutes.

  6. I personally didn't find Breakthrough's iconic ricochet effect practically all that useful. So my no.1 is Nekomata that can shoot 2 additional bullets. Not only it does more damage it's also great for triggering legendary Short Circut. That makes it great also for no scope dealing with a nearby enemies.

  7. ive done the same kinda test and figured out the best sniper rifle is buzzsaw(yes i know but try it out if you dont believe me) with a scope that adds 5.71 distance or more and blue alecto silencer

  8. Overwatch used to be able to shoot through walls, it was the most broken weapon in the game because of it. You could just shoot through walls a 100 meters away and shoot enemies right next to each other but because you are so far away the AI wouldn't know what to do except to hide. The big downside though is boss battles, it is not easy using it when half the bosses have Sandevistan.

  9. I haven't noticed any problem getting only headshots with the Ashura. Might you have been using the non-lethal Kiroshi mod on your eyes? That would prevent it from locking on to heads, which just leaves accidental headshots from certain angles and arcs.

  10. I'm not sure if someone mentioned this but you can find a Version of the Nekomata that has a "reduced time requirement to charge by 50%" modifier making the charge up to full super fast.

Plus leveling the engineering skills targeted at tech weapons is super important as it gives a lot more control and dmg to the weapon.

  11. 1: using Gorilla Arms eases the body requirements even if it doesn't show it anywhere
2: if you want to headshot with Ashura rise your aim after getting a lock or aim so that only the target's head is in the aiming zone

  12. I would put the SPT 32 GRAD above overwatch or breakthrough because this gun works best for me because I use quickhacks(memory wipe, weapon glitch or reboot optics) to hold enemies back while V reloads, apply cripple movement and then ping viola I snipe everyone with ease. Or I simply apply memory wipe when my position is compromised and move to another vintage point ping and snipe everyone. This is all based on the fact that it penetrate walls without the need of charging and there's no silencer that takes away it's ability to penetrate walls, it's only drawback is slow reload but that's something you have to counter back as a player.

  13. I remember my first playthrough, I settled into a kind of sniper build because I found it hilarious to ping a group, then shoot them all through the wall with a tech sniper. Couldn't attach a suppressor though, so couldn't be stealthy like I wanted.

Then I found Panam, the sexy nomad sniper with the biggest rifle in the game… suppressed. Needless to say, I was very happy when she gifted it to me. Used it for the rest of that playthrough to start every engagement.

  14. 8:28 to mitigate this problem, go to: "settings" "interface" and toggle "center of screen dot overlay" to ON
This will give you your point of impact on any weapon.
