Assault rifles are one of the most classic and well known guns out there, and there’s a variety to choose from in Cyberpunk 2077. Fortunately CDProjektRed have done a great job in ensuring that these guns have some decent variation, with each having pros and cons, as well as different use cases.
In this video I attempt to break down and rank all 11 models from worst to best, in order to determine which are better for varying playthroughs. This list is of course my opinion, and I’m more than happy to hear how everybody elses differs from mine. But whether you agree with me or not, I hope this video provides you with a decent overview on this games precision rifles, and you learn a thing or two along the way…
You can check out more of my cyberpunk content on the channel. I’d specifically recommend my Revolvers Ranked video, if you’re planning on becoming the fastest or strongest gun in Night City! https://youtu.be/UPtijKnNrDg
Alternatively, if you’re wanting to lean more into the netrunning briefly covered in this video, here’s my overview and ranking for all Quickhacks in the game: https://youtu.be/brFKGlqgh80

I rarely use assault rifles but the Ajax is my go to AR whenever I go to pick them up, I did take Divided We Stand through force and it took me a bit cause I didn’t want to use Sandevistan and stayed at a distance with a revolver
Totally agree the Masamune is great for every scenario, great video!
I really wish there were more Lmgs in the game honestly.
Playing stealth in cyberpunk is so fun and satisfying but guns blazing and chucking grenades all over the place is arguably even better.
Where the the hell is the yinglong
It should be noted that Nowaki and Masamune are the exact same gun, just with different visual models. I mean, look at the Nowaki's icon in the bottom right. That's a Masamune.
The game files call it a Masamune_2020 or something like that. It seemes to have only been meant to be used in the Silverhand sections of the story, used by the Arasaka operatives there, but managed to get into the 2077 world. That's why it's no at any vendors, you're not meant to be able to obtain it that way.
Same deal with the Tamayura pistol, that's just a reskinned Nue (save for the fact it hold two fewer rounds).
Well now I know that the AKs died out in this timeline
Thank you so much. I really needed this.
I'm my current playthrough I have never come across an Umbra. And by the sounds of things that's good
I havn't tried Sandy…yet; so my views are different.
I used to avoid the Ajax, didn't like the look, but of late I have been warming to it when used as an AR should meaning CQB to far medium range.
The copperhead is like you said, decent not much more. I rate it's use to a R/L AR15.
I used to use the Matsume frequently but grew to dislike its 3 round burst in a lot of close encounters. Much like its real world 3 round was disliked. However: for PC you can get a mod to get around that. As you said if you really wanted Rogues rifle CET it on PC
I am of the opinion that the smart weapons are for those more interested in the non -shooting aspects of the game (or lazy). Me, coming from handling R/L guns I find the rest more fun and relatable.
Molon, divided, and Psalm are def. play style guns.
The Dara rifle ok for the 1st half of the lock down part of the story.
The Kyubi sure does need a better/easier to see sight . I found tho with the rare grade Alecto supressor , it makes a decent out to mid-range stealth headshot rifle.
Honestly really hated the Nowaki. I found that it had really strong horizontal recoil and liked to pull really hard up and to the left. Currently running the Masamune as it handles just so much better.
Did you say where to find the #1 AR gun?
I really wish they'd make Prejudice one of the guns you get after you complete an ending, just like they did with Cassidy's revolver in the nomad ending. Until then, Moron Labe is definitely my favorite for all the reasons listed here. Big gun, big damage, perfect for solos.
Genuinely a great video
Problem solver + legendary short circuit + 20 cool equals most DPS in the game with a couple assault perks
The great thing about this game is 20 reflexes you can basically pick up any rifle on the ground and kill everything. Granted some are better than others 😜😜😜 but still investing in assault make the world a better place.. My personal favorite is the psalm let them burn in the gates of hell 🤣🤣🤣.
I managed to find a legendary kyubi in a room locked with a tech door, in the delamain hq during the final mission of that quest line
What song from the game is playing during the outro with the violin like sound?
Moron Labe is Greek for; "Come and take them!" When a Persian asked them to lay down their weapons.
Heavenly used by Right Wing Americans when it comes to firearms.
These videos make me realize how broken tech is. By broken i mean bad. It's such a requirement but it basically forces 18 points from whatever build you're doing. The crafting system needs a overhaul imo. There's no reason i should have 1million eddies but the only way to get high level weapons is to craft them myself
Just finished my 2nd playthrough in which I 100% the game for the first time. I did the secret ending and used level scaling + better enemy ai mods and it was amazing since it was hard and when I die the game ends.
Anyways,I've uninstalled the game yesterday and I miss it a lot and I cant find another first person RPG thats as good as cyberpunk (or kingdom come deliverance)
Love your videos, I'll come back to your channel once phantom liberty releases. Thanks for all the videos,I know they must take hours to make each one. Good luck with your yt channel!
As someone who has played a bit of cyberpunk and got bored the phrase "netruner fire mage " kinda makes me wanna play another round
The Ajax/(after getting the crafting spec)Moron Labe is my top favorite AR in the game, I only play with fully automatic AR's in general, I usually prefer higher fire rate(so the D5) but I really love how the Ajax looks feels and sounds a lot, it's very powerful with properly matching recoil, it had a learning curve for sure at first and after playing with it so much and having good muscle memory to manage the recoil when dumping entire magazines into enemies accurately and some headshots it's very fun and effective, my loadout is usually Moron Labe or MA70 HB, Problem solver or the Fenrir SMG and the mox or VST-37 Pozhar shotgun(I love the fire rate of the VST-37 but the DPS of the mox is just so crazy after max upgrades) when at close range and overwatch or O'Five for long range. The Problem solver SMG became my top favorite gun in the game the moment I got it and I didn't know it even existed in the game before I found it, when I read the description "Removes all safety and reason by firing almost 1000 rounds per minute" I was sure right away that it's going to be my personal top favorite and fun gun to use because it's like perfect to me. and I built my character around it so the reload speed is almost instant, the recoil mostly manageable and accuracy not really an issue thanks to ricochets killing different enemies than the one I am aiming at a lot, just have to keep an eye on the ammo LOL.
Great work, Sam. Awesome video as always.
Since this video is about assault rifles maybe you should test the scopes, attachments and mods next. Which ones to use in different scenarios and whatnot.
Psalm 11:6 is my favourite and I really love the Kyubi, we defenetly need a buyable or craftable legendary version of it, or an iconic version.
Achilles should get an honorable mention for being a shotgun, rifle, and sniper rolled into one.
I am glad the Kyubi exists. The precision rifles are probably better over all but it is so easy to run out of ammo, as it uses the damn sniper ammo for fucks sake, with the ~100 max capacity
and none of these come close to the power of the buzzsaw, not even prejudice. Clear an entire mission with 1 ping in seconds from stealth lol. I carry 2. 1 silenced, and one not. some play throughs i've blocked my self from using it because it's just toooooooo easy. Needs a bit of point investment though.
One thing about the Divided we Stand there is a gig that if you do it before getting the gun and enter combat one of the sixth street members will recognize you after you finish the competition and you will have to kill everyone anyway.
Moron labe need i say why
Uuu do Katanas next!
Kyubi is very good like stealth weapon, becouse u need to look on dmg per shot, and that is high with this one.Later after lev. 30 u can buy epic version from vendors, dmg wise + single shot is more then enough for 1 hit headshots.I wish that have higher rate of fire,so i can use it like main weapon, but like this, combo masamune – kyubi + Yinglong is my way to go.
'For the Copperhead, you'll likely find several HUNDRED of them lying around.' There…fixed that for you. I literally can't move without tripping over these lol.
no clue if it's been said anywhere but i think Moron Labe is derived from the ancient greek saying "molon labe" meaning come and take, it was attributed to King Leonidas when Xerxes told the spartans to lay down their weapons
Smart guns and tech guns are s*it. The former category have lower damage per shot and in exchange for compensating for lazy idgets who don't know how to aim and the latter…well, as Yahtzee Crowshaw always said, "anything that gives an extra step between press elft click and opponents die" is not worth it.
Can't wait for the lmg ranking video where you rank all 3 of them.
205 hours in 3rd play through I looted my 1st Lego Kyubi! If I remember right it was Regina’s gig and was in a crate during the mox girl cyber psycho encounter where you need to let the xbd scroller out of the conix box. “Shhh not so loud”
If you’ve done a couple of NCPD Scanners or gigs that have you facing against 6th street, you will still have to fight them after winning the minigame, but they let you pick up the gun before the fight triggers
Just so everyone else is aware: The Kyubi is one of the weapons included in the free 1.6 DLC "new firearms", alongside Senkoh LX, MA70 HB, Kolac, Kappa, Etc etc. None of the weapons from the firearms DLC can be bought or crafted in legendary rarity, with the only exception being for the Hypercritical, which is an Iconic variant of the Kolac, so it gets a pass. So unless they happen to drop in legendary rarity on loot-tables, you'll have to settle with the Epic rarities.
Another great video! The Masamune is also my go to assault rifle. CDPR better make the prejudice available for the expansion along with Cassidy's revolver.
thanks for the effort you put into your videos.
They really could have implemented the Kyubi better, I still think it's the best stealth gun option. (I have seen crafting specs and Kyubi Legendaries drop from Adam Smasher however)
Small tip if you like Divided we Stand, mix it up with some Bio Grenades and run the Metabolic Editor, you can litter the field with chemical clouds between the gun and the nades – whats more the Metabolic Editor heals you if you get poisoned, turning the poison clouds into healing auras for your V.
Do katanas next
It's really weird cause I was just looking through your videos last night and was like, "Huh, it's odd he doesn't have a "Best Assault Rifles" video" and lo and behold this pops up in my recommended lol. Anyways, great video and I've been pairing my assault rifles with Berserk. I might try with the Masamune again.
Please give us a SMG ranking cause that is my favorite type of guns
The Kyûbi us a stealth gun, it has the highest single shot damage of all ARs, you can use it with a rare suppressor and you'll be one shotting almost all mobs in the game in stealth with a headshot. It's like a high rate of fire revolver.
Something you need to keep in mind is that a few guns in this game are just alt skins with a single, very negligible difference in one stat. Tamayura is actually Nue, Shigure is a Sartoga, Nowaki is actually Masamune. They're listed as Shigrue_Saratoga the same as Shigure_Military or any other skin variant.
You can't buy the "alt skin" version as you found out, though the crafting blueprints exist in the code. They also only drop from certain Arasaka enemies or very rarely from 6th Street, which is why people prefer the Masamune. It's craftable and people tend to get it later when their Reflexes are ranked up. The only thing that affects recoil/ spread are the attribute skill levels and berserk. By the time Masamune's start dropping those Reflex skill nodes for recoil make a gun most people already had seem like a completely different version of itself lol.
Never used Prejudice…only did that ending once. Never used the Umbra either. I have no idea why you don't get it early in the game. The Copperhead is an inaccurate piece of junk. Only the highest level examples with a really good muzzle brake even start to make the grade. Those muzzle brakes add a lot to the rifles in this game…makes the bad ones not too bad, makes the good rifles very good, even excellent. Oh man…I wanted to like the Kyubi but it just seems underpowered. What good is a 20-round magazine when it takes 3-4 shots to put down an enemy? There's a Vortex mod you can add that improves the sights. I've never liked the Nowaki…burst mode either isn't enough, or just wastes ammo. The Sidewinder is just a little weak…in fact, I find all the Smart weapons to be a little weak. If it takes a couple of seconds to put one enemy down when several are shooting at you…yer gonna have a bad time. The Ajax is about the best assault rifle in the game. A Legendary with a mod to increase its fire rate and a top-shelf muzzle brake make it a sure-fire killer. I bought the Legendary version…I wanted it ASAP and darn the expense. It's absolutely my go-to. The Psalm rifle is not terrible, but I don't use it much. It's mainly good for flammable boss enemies, and other guns do the same thing and are more versatile. Just hang it on your trophy wall. Divided We Stand…works pretty well but still a relatively unimpressive Smart weapon. The poison effect is the real advantage. The Moron Labe is a nice gun but I didn't find it distinctly better than my modded [in-game mods] Ajax. I have never found the Masamune to be that useful…but perhaps I should give it a proper test.
I'm thinking of doing a future playthrough using only the weapons I normally have no use or liking for. Most of the weapons in this game take some use and experience to come to appreciate. I played through several games before I realized how powerful the ricochet aspect is. I'll mention again that the muzzle brakes in this game really make a big difference in how assault rifles perform.
Quick explanation of the name Moron Labe. It is a play on the far right rallying cry, Molon Labe, Greek for "come and take them" and pronounced Mole-On Lah-Bay. It is a dare to the government to try and take their guns. The Punisher logo has been adopted by the police, military and the 'Thin Blue Line' crowd. This is ironic because the Punisher was a vigilante. The Moron Labe is CDPR's way of calling these people morons.
I'm wondering if you could Rank knives? As I'm doing a Knife only run
My favourite weapon is Fenrir though I will definitely go through all your build suggestions when I start from the beginning again
