Well a very good evening to you, thank you for choosing to stop by and say hello. This was originally just a video showcasing the Militech VR training room that spawns under Night City, but this quickly snowballed into a general look at the weird and wonderful oddities found under Cyberpunk 2077’s map.
If you guys enjoy this, then I am more than happy to continue making under map explorations 🙂

The ship under the map is used for songbirds ending there was another ship under the map at one point
It'd be so dope to have your voice and way of talking replace male V. It will never happen, even as a mod, but I'd be there for that.
Would making it disappear save memory use? Why does it need to disappear?
This area is used in the Brain Dance combat tutorial. Jackie Welles offers you a data shard which contains the tutorial right at the start of the mission The Rescue.
4:36 gigantic piece of shit 😂
Yeah, I've not gotten into any of the further quests after initially opening up the map and have just gone exploring. I've found multiple points in the map, usually the air ducts where you end up inside the buildings (glitching through without code) and can see all the cars streaming around and have been looking for secret rooms. You can platform your way around internally. Recently was able to glitch up to an area finding two Arasaka board members standing on a balcony hallway and got myself onto that balcony. They don't speak. Was able to get up to the subway stations. Found a few walled up rooms looking around but couldn't get into them.
0:39 It's a T. Maybe it's for T-Bug?
I remember seeing similar empty boxes out of bounds in Portal 2 and I think they were used for teleporting the player once they completed a level
This looks like the vr tutorial chip you can play at the start of the game. Maybe they had some additional vr missions planned at some point.
Yeah, it's a T-Bug icon
Stuff at a big distance doesnt load. Just practical to just skybox it.
At 0:40, that is T-Bug's avatar/profile picture for the phone stuff.
you really should put your modlist in the video description.
I think that militech compound could actually have been a multiplayer deathmatch map possibly lift
I wouldn't be suprised if the dark tutorial room was supposed to have been further expanded upon in the cancled multplayer addon, imagine if they actually made it and we ended up getting a game mode set in the Blackwall involving a Corpo war between Arasaka & Millitech.
It will probably be a militech training program. I can't remember but I think Jackie said he got it from T-Bug so that would explain why get icon it's in there
I am likely wrong though I suppose the cubed could be used to render some of the windows on the buildings. Some of the structures way out in the water seem to be used for the TV programs.
the boxes are probably for a dev to test lighting, textures, models, etc in a small contained environment.
0:45 thats t bugs icon she usually guids you through the tutorial, not sure why its there, 3 dimensional, or holographic and colorless, but when youre calling bug in the prologue its using that icon
every location in the game is on the map somewhere. either above it, under it or inside of something, but everything is always there. the dark lighting change is from the area where you run from the Cerberus. That whole area is under the map near that location where the lighting changed.
Did you ever see the flathead controller showing up inside of a building you couldn't actually enter in Watson? I noticed it during the initial vanilla version of cyberpunk due to exploits but I couldn't get close enough to it. If you're actually interested in it I can try to look a little harder to find the building it was in.
one of those black boxes will be used for the recipient of your calls, the phone call video feed isnt a video but a camera that toggles under the map with the npc's model that just renders in live to make all the hours of phone dialogue smaller in filesize, someone else might know if they're using the time during dialing to actually load the npc's model, the box probably isnt affected by any lighting, just used to cut off the other objects under the map from showing and give the devs a spot to spawn every npc without issue
Now I wonder if we could free cam to the areas used for the monk meditation braindances.
0:38 that's the flating icon you select to start the training missions, they probably placed it there so it can be loaded when needed. That's also probably why they have that trash pile there.
Game developer here. Every location you visit in Cyberpunk is somewhere in the open world map, and usually only "loads" when you're within viewing distance. They likely use asset streaming to save memory as well. Cyberpunk relies heavily on occlusion culling, so anything you can't see is usually disabled to save performance. It would be MORE work for a computer to load an entire new level instead of just keeping everything disabled and "turning it on" when it's needed. It also means that transitions between these places can be instant, without the need for loading screens.
Johnny's version of night city isn't a new level, it's just the same open world with a various props and buildings disabled or enabled to set the scene. Which is why you can still visit the Atlantis club or Johnny's Arasaka tower levels if you use freecam as V.
I think the bubble is not loaded at all times. At the very least it is loaded with LOD meshes, but I think you triggered its' loading with proximity.
