Day One Of Cyberpunk 2077's New Metro System

Read more about Cyberpunk 2077➜ https://cyberpunk2077.mgn.tv

so the day is finally here; this feature has been on the top of my fantasy list for a good few years, never did I expect it to finally be realised. So… is it any good? Does the new and improved Metro system in Cyberpunk 2077 hold up? Or has the GTA 6 trailer stomped this out.

Find out with me will you?

  1. I agree with you that it would've been cool if there was more to the metro system, but at the same time.. After a certain point I knew what to expect with updates and how much they would change the game. Since I imagine it doesn't make sense from a company's perspective to invest so much in something that's already been out for so long and all, which I get. So the alternative is to kind of duct tape things together in the least ugly way possible and I think they managed that quite well.

We just have to hope that the next game won't need any duct taping and it will actually be great, even if it's ways away.

  2. Well that's a slight disappointment but on the plus side it gives modders way more material to build a potential fully seamless metro system. Also would be cool if you could do a comparison video exploring the old and new stations and seeing what's changed.

  3. Yeah, I had pretty similar expectations to getting to walk around the stations and their platforms too. I mean, given there's all the NPCS and working vending machines and so on, it's a bit of a repeat of that bit of the megabuildings inner market you can't get to. Maybe someone will make a mod that'll add a third option to the NCARTS "Fast Travel" and "Ride Metro" options, maybe "Hang Out On Station" ? That way you can wander around the station and watch the trains come and go and even board them? Maybe even add a free roam element to the trains themselves? And maybe someone will mod the megabuildings in the same way to get to those inner markets.
What they've done is great, the game is now in the kind of shape I wish it had been on launch, but it's just little things like this…

  4. yeah i expected to be able to at least walk on the train, but maybe the game has limitations, this update was 43 GB for me so yeah
maybe they plan to continue adding to it but added this version for now
yeah i get it, it's free so we cant really be disappointed but things always get hyped up to seem bigger than they are. Still this is great for free and i love the music feature, new vehicles and the fact that im randomly getting attacked by gangs i've had beef with in my car is quite cool

  5. Talking about the metro system, WatchDogs 1 in Chicago is the goat!!
They are fully functional, and they have 2 lines in the system, players can actually wait at the platform for the right train to arrive, and physically walk inside the train, even walk around while it's running, not to mention that you can even interact with the train to make it stop at any time, and it even supports multiplayer! It's quite successfully designed that I always use the metro to get to the places of my missions! That should be the industrial standard, man!
Sadly that was the last perfect metro system I've ever played, GTA V is kinda cool, but still not as good as WatchDogs. Looking forward to GTA 6

  6. Wasted potential. There are like 1-2 things that happen in the metro at the beginning. Like a npc on the telephone or someone playing guitar. After that nothing happens ever again on the train. The NPCs never exit the train nor does new NPCs enter it. You can't move around. News channels repeat over and over again on the train. Everything is in limbo. It was a good idea and for the first 5 minutes it is very immersive, but the lack of effort they put into this, reflects this game very well: pretty, but superficial.

  7. They mentioned the metros as a way to heighten immersion so yeah I am a little disappointed that you don't walk to the train and walk on, choose a seat etc. That would really be immersive. with this implementation of the metro system, it really is just glorified fast travel with some cool views. I think that is still cool but definitely does not add the immersion I was hoping for.

  8. I don’t mind loading into a carriage. I don’t mind loading out of a carriage. I don’t mind not being able to walk around the platforms. But not being able to move around inside the carriage… 😩 Why? 😭 That’d be the best part of riding in one; being able to move around from window to window to catch views, etc.

  9. Add flying cars and places to discover / exploration make your own settlement like fallout 4 this game would be a ten out of 10 but its very close i went from hating the game to it being top 3 games. Choice to be in 3rd person would be great to.if they just added that and exploration things to discover think its a winner

  10. I think the reason why they did not fully make the subways better is because they did not want to put too much effort on something that is going to be only used by a small amount of people. Most people would rather drive or fast travel. But I am very happy that they at least they added this feature.

  11. As sad as it is that we got no more, I we should consider that Cyberpunk 2077 was at least from a Development Point of View finished with the Phantom Liberty Update. To me Update 2.1 felt like a "Community Update", as in CD Project Red saw some of the well known mods and feature requests and tried to incorporate them into a Bonus Update.

The internal human resources for CP 2077 are probably scaled down almost completly after the launch of the DLC and future Updates are probably only small tweaks and patches. I assume they somewhat had to cut corners because of that.

  12. I think they're just laying the framework for having an interactive environment that you could fully move around, because like you said, it doesn't really make sense that they would create these new environments, but you can't fully explore it. It seems like to me at least that they're going to do something with it in the future.

  13. The metro mod guy already said the ride isn't over. From what I gather he is gonna see how the new system works and what he can build on top of it. I assume waiting at platforms and moving around the train. The dude is super talented and the metro mod is one of the most advanced mods I have seen come out for the game so I have confidence he can make some cool stuff happen.

Either way I'm more than happy with the metro as is as it feels like a proper metro system with the right interiors and ambience. The metro mod was super cool, but you were riding it alone on empty platforms with the bus interior having to have been used. My only complaint is that unlike the metro mod, it's free to take the metro. Even if it didn't cost a lot I still liked the immersion of paying. Still would like to wait for the trains, but modders will do that eventually so I'm not bummed about it

  14. I honestly cannot bear that there are people who defend CDPR like they're angels. Like, seriously. It's not even about hating CDPR or whatever. But technically, they just added something that they themselves removed and that took them all this time to decide to bring it back… Even as modders had done it time ago already.

And stating this doesn't mean that I don't appreciate that they still chose to make the effort to add it. I understand that. I know that they "didn't have to", and I know that it's a free addition to the game. I'm not trying to shit on their attempt to make a nice gesture towards the players by continuing to add things, when they could have just easily done like other companies and call it a day after the expansion update.

But that doesn't take away the fact that it would have been much better if it'd let the player enter and exit manually, without loading screens. Especially knowing there are games from almost a decade ago that would let you do it. And that in an universe where this version of the Metro existed back in 2020, they could have improved it over time, and we would have had the metro system we wanted by now.

And saying that is not hating or having too much expectations. It's a relatively realistic expectation. And if anything, it's almost as if they kind of have to do all this to make up for all they did not do in 2020.

  15. honestly i dont disagree, it does feel weird that they have amazing looking stations to go through but you cant seem to go there for whatever reason, im guessing cause the metro doesnt have the same model and either some hard coding was going to be difficult to change without messing with the other files or it was a deadline issue so they left it out for now.

depending on how it goes, we did get told when the dlc came out that they still have some more tweaking before theyre happy to move on, heres hoping this wont be the last we see of these updates cause some areas could benefit off that.

  16. I was hoping that metro would add some spark to my role play in night city, but seeing a loading screen in an otherwise zero loading screen experience has been off putting, back to vehicles for me 🙁

Modders give me hope, maybe 6 months and we'll be able to fully explore and go back to zero loading screens.

  17. Dont expect too much out of cdpr, they werent even supposed to make another update, this one was just an extended love letter to the fans of the game. They added what they meant to add and then some, 2.0 was supposed to be the last update this one was a surprise.

  18. I think it was probably intended for players to be able to walk around the platform. There were some people in charge adding the spaces and some people responsible for implementing the on-train stuff. The train stations were already there but there might have been technical issues with the seemless integration so they just went for this teleportation thing. Maybe they will extend on this in future updates though.

  19. I'm afraid the game physics wouldn't allow us to move freely and seamlessly on a moving object like the train, not to mention other NPCs. The bodies would immediately or eventually glitch, fall, break, fall off the train etc. And even if the stations were all completely modeled and accessible for the player, we still wouldn't be able to get on the train and ride it normally without scripted and limiting cuts.

  20. I think it would be nice if future mod (if not fully supported by CDPR in an update) we're able to walk past the metal detectors and the prompt to choose fast travel/NCART pops up and just before the platform it auto selects ride. Something to that effect, just a little bit of roaming.
It seems not all the stations are complete enough to actually walk anywhere though, just fancy set dressing as you said.

  21. If CDPR has made it this far, I don't believe they couldn't have gone further. I think that in this situation it is simply a conscious decision before the next Cyberpunk. This was kind of a test to see if they could do it in a future game, but they didn't want to spoil the experience now that the fun with CP2077 was actually over. It's more of an opinion poll and testing ideas for the next cyberpunk.
