Who is the Zen Master? He initially appears during “Imagine” that begins an ongoing questline of 3 more associated quests. Each one guiding V through a meditation of a nature braindance. Just who is this Monk though and how does he seemingly heal others and vanish?

  1. I like the Idea of the ZM from an Metaphysical Stand point, and prefer to think of him an an individual with a pure spiritual influence, V needs guidance to become at peace with Silverhand, and the choice they must make. If it is an Rogue AI reaching out to only those worthy of it's injection to their lives or if it is Bartmoss. Whom other than Pondsmith knows. it's his world and maybe just gave us something to elaborate as V our avatar for the games interaction and our story and style we choose to delve.

  2. I think it is Bartmoss. I also, tangentially, think that a lot of these small side issues will crop up in the next game. Night Corp, the Peralez, the ZM, 'space necromancers', and more. If taken holistically, they absolutely form a larger narrative that could be the basis of a meta-plot. If you look at the game as a 3 act story, then 2077 is just the opening scene. It's meant to establish the scenario, but the "meat" of the plot will come in Orion. Ulitimate resolution would follow after that. Consider Mass Effect 1-3. I dearly hope the overarching plot follows the same outline (hopefully without the color coded ending).

  3. I always thought the zen master related to the tarot cards in some way since you can ask both misty about them, a sign from a higher power, and it’s always weird how no matter what you choose to pay him or not nothing changes, how he knows you’re dying and how other people have reported seeing him. Johnny not knowing what V is talking about and not commenting on it but can see the tarot cards the first time you see one hmmm cyberpunk always leaves me with more questions than answers that’s why I’m so addicted to its lore and world so excited for phantom liberty!

  4. If it's a normal monk, maybe he has an actual talent to connecting with someones soul. Since Johnny has been "soulkilled" and is now an engram, he's not a soul, he's construct that resembles one. Idk. It's game logic man.

  5. Imagine the Zen Master is Rache Bartmoss using the BD to attempt attacks on the engram encryption, trying to create a seperation or study the hardware to better understand its protocols.

The fact he is seen by some and not others perhaps means that many people are under AI or netrunner influence and Bartmoss is using this form as a firewall to free or give more control to the person.

    Just food for thought.

P.S. Bartmoss may be attempting to control those that are more susceptible to cyberdeck control. The engram in V does create a parallel. Last thought.

  6. So I would like to put something into the air. Has to do with energy nature/natural resources. freedom to have these are nowhere to be found and V is the person who will bring down the Corps who are ruining the natural resources. I could go much deeper into this but yes this monk is a very important person.

  7. Official statement cdpr So it's very similar for those who know Blood and Wine and Hearts of Stone," Abatangelo explained. "It's within the scope of the main game but at a certain point in the main story you unlock it. And again, it's very similar to what we did in [The Witcher 3] where players coming into the game or coming back to the game, they can do a New Game and skip ahead to where [Phantom Liberty] begins. Or they can do a New Game and get to it naturally. Specifically, it's around the time with the Voodoo Boys and Brigitte. Soon after that is when the Phantom Liberty story unlocks."🎉

  8. I like this theory a lot but I also have been thinking and toying with the idea that the Zen Master is really Oracle who's also responsible for the tarot around NC and is an AI. I'm also toying with the idea that Oracle and that other AI Illuminati are at odds or at war and that maybe they both have tried to effect V and events with Illuminati maybe attempting to kill V for interfering and creating the cyberpsychos. I think the Jinguji attack was aimed at V. I'm not convinced there is no significance to Jinguji yet. The name means, "gods, mind, soul." I feel there may be a connection between Oracle and Jinguji. I have more but no time.

  9. He clearly exists physically. I could hear out anything. Just so long as nobody says Rache Bartmoss… (눈‸눈)

Ahhh wrote too soon. XD That's the one thing I just can't believe. I will stand by he is dead-dead even with ESC (which, ha ha, very funny, escape). Is a netrunning monk really out of the question? Wasn't too caught up on the Zen Master tbh. Cool speculation!

  10. coool😃def think ZM is some netrunner, or Ai? the 'losing my religion' monks tell you Ai's teach at temples etc, one could be just journeying around folks brains doing the thing thing.
just another mystery, like the tarot, the cloaked AVs, night corp, the statues, the orbital strikes in the badlands…do many mysteries!

  11. I have always thought that its an ai created by alt cunningham as a counter to her soulkiller. If we follow this line of thought then when alt passed onto the net the ai was intiated and started its job. I think it infiltrated a body and got into the budhist religion in cyberpunk. This could be a reason why the monks themselves refuse cybernetics because the ai specifically mandated they do no do it so as to not be effected by the soulkiller program and also for it to hide in plain sight. The fact specfic ppl cannot see the monk could be that it blocks ppl with cybernetic eyes from registering it similar to how the masks the organ harvesters stop you from seeing their faces. I think this is more logical as the last vision the monk leaves something physical behind for v but it can also vanish from v after the other visions, its because it can chose when and where v can see them. For all we know the monk could be with us the bulk of the time judging us on our actions and ive always thought that there was a planned ending where you keep your own mind and johny goes off with alt but you live but this ending was canned.
