Cyberpunk 2077’s Phantom Liberty expansion has a great cast, a great set up and a very pretty new space to explore, but it’s the improvements to the base game that make this expansion really interesting. CDPR are using it as an excuse to take a swing at some of Cyberpunk’s core elements, and so far, it’s working.

  1. Isris Elba is a fan of action and scifi genre stuff, so you can always count on him to take it seriously. Even in stuff that's not so great, I've never seen him phone it in. This looks good.

  2. I know Cyberpunk has it's flaws, and it's still not quite the game I wanted, but it's still a great game and I'm so excited to be able to replay this game flaws and all to experiance what cdpr are adding to it.

  3. Pleased for CP2077 fans. Played it recently on xbox but it didnt feel imeersive enough to keep me going to the end. The stories were decent and there were lots of them but it just felt a bit flat and I never felt like I was in a world thathad an effect on my charcter. One of the worst things about it was the never ending icons on the map-it started feeling like a job.

  4. This was a game worth fixing, and I'm glad they chose to work on it. That said, I just can't get back into the game. I slogged through it as a buggy mess when it came out, and now when I return to it, the frustration of that time comes flooding back. It seems that the only way to have a good experience with a game anymore is to wait for the GotY version, and that's the only way I'm rolling, anymore.

  5. Remember when streamers got to play Cyberpunk 2077 demo early and they praised it to seven sky? Judge with your wallet only when it's fucking actually out.

  6. I bought Cyberpunk hoping it was SciFi GTA 5. Thus the things I was disappointed with most, was how empty the world felt. There's a lot of set dressing and tons of NPCs are walking around the streets, but you can't interact with 95% of it. There is barely any reason to go exploring and the sidequests are mostly "help the police in this encounter" or "do this handful of quests for the fixer of this area". There is no verticality, no planes, drones, yetpack; at most you can unlock a better jump… Sometimes the most exciting thing was stopping at a street corner to listen to "let me stay at your house" when it played in a radio nearby.

Yes it do look good… if you have the hardware to make it look good. Today I saw an updated spec-sheet for phantom liberty. Maybe that's why they didn't want to talk about AI-Changes and the other stuff. In the context I was given it sounded like those changes made the requirements go up… yikes.

Combat is fine, the skill tree really did need some love (looking forward to seeing what they did to it). The story was good, by far the part I enjoyed the most. I really hope they keep working on the game, it's by far the most interesting setting for an open-world rpg to me. Sadly the way it currently (before Phantom Liberty) plays I'd only recommend you get it when it's on sale for 30-ish Euros.

  7. This is the studio that was able to somehow completely fuck up a functioning game with a single patch after 8 years. So i only expect more downgrades from this.

  8. I have had Cyberpunk for a while now, but am still postponing playing it. I have not touched it.
I am hoping the improvements will carry over to the base game. Basically, that is my main care.
I will be extremely, extremely disappointed if this is not the case.

  9. Question for people that are more mod savvy than myself, will Phantom Liberty break the mods I'm using in the base Cyberpunk game? Is it likely the mods will work in the expansion? I use a couple of balancing mods that level all enemies to your level and make the game harder.

  10. I was really hoping to hear about activities on which we could spend our credits. Like maybe someone actually completed construction on a casino and then opened it for business. Perhaps a casino with mini-golf, Lazer Tag, and/or multiple go-kart tracks.

  11. With regard to them being coy, seems maybe they have learned their lesson on not overselling things and creating hype they can't deliver on.

  12. I try Cyberpunk again every 6 months or so. Each time, I just wish I played Deus Ex instead. If they make the environments significantly more interactive and give the player more meaningful choices, it could be what I am looking for.
