Cyberpunk RT Overdrive Tested | GeForce RTX 4070 Ti | 1440p, 4K

In this video we’ll be testing the highly anticipated RT Overdrive mode in Cyberpunk 2077. This update is labeled as a technology preview and introduces full path tracing into an already good looking ray tracing game. The performance hit is brutal, and CDPR recommends you use a 4070 Ti or above, or a 3090.

RT Overdrive has been in the works for quite a while, and it really looks great. This is not something that all games will start using immediately, but more a showcase of what is capable in a current game when full path tracing is enabled.

For a great visual comparison, here is the Digital Foundry video on it:

  1. got a 4090 sitting at around 80-100fps @ 1440p ultrawide, what definitly helped with latency in frame generation was switching to the newest version of dlss in cyberpunk. i got like 20ms and i cant feel a difference between on and off accept fps xd

  2. Just one question… Did you update DLSS to 2.5.1 or maybe the latest 3.1.12? As your DLSS quality across the range seems very odd especially performance and ultra performance… 2.5.1 and onward improves DLSS quality massively especially for performance and ultra performance (ultra performance looks very stable with low amount of shimmer on tiny objects in motion). Looks like you are using default DLSS as that's how witcher 3 looks on ultra performance before i updated to 2.5.1. (yeah with RTX 3090 have to play at 4k DLSS ultra performance to get 50-60 fps).

  3. I currently have a GTX 1080TI and interested in upgrading but these graphics card prices are breaking the bank. Would you recommend the 4070 TI or is the extra money worth it for a 4080?

  4. Could you possibly test an optimized setting from Digital Foundry instead of using Ultra setting, I'm curious how much it could improve performance while using RT overdrive

  5. I noticed you didnt turn on DLAA when testing, im curious if that would help with the visual quality when trying to play in 4k. im looking forward to trying this later.

  6. Interresting. More of a tech demo for now as it states in the settings but I can see how maybe… in 3 or 4 years we just might see some games with full path as a playable option for under $1,000 USD and hopefully without fake frames and added latency. I know some people are more sensitive to latency than others though. I am one that is sensitive to input latency. Makes me feel kinda drunk.

  7. Caution Please…. Listen… I have a RTX 4070TI Gigabtybe 12gb. Listen! Don't play this game until Nvidia updates there drivers. Caution your GPU will overheat and probably melt the PCI pins. My Gpu is already having conntection errors. Make sure you run the game with DLSS only! My Pc almost literally die. Let Nvidia know. Do not OVERCLOCK YOUR GPU for this game Safety.

  8. The Stuttering you had at 4K is happening with Frame Gen breaks. I fix it by disable/enable it in the options and then it's back to working state.
I've seen this happen on other games as well. (on a 4090).
