Video Gamer here, one of my favorite game is CP2077. I put around 800 hours to the game and expansion. This Board game is a mess, chaotic, the characters out of the role (expansion), not well thought, unfinished, overpriced, lot of psychological tricks to grab your money…
You mentioning quickhacks on point 3. Quickhacks will use rams. Only couple of characters are RAM focused. V: maybe, Judy: YES, Panam: no, Jackie: no. So if you think this is the "heart" of the game you will be shocked that this is about 5% (maybe) of the gameplay.
For me personally IP games never live up to my expectations. This is a pass for me just because of that. I've been really excited about IP games in the past and I get them we play them and after two or three plays the game group is meh! Everyone would rather play the video game instead of the board game.
I think you missed mentioning the wtcher path of destiny. The goonboard campagin on gamefound they are still working on. I have no worries about it fulfilling at all but that was a big campaign after old world. So thats two multi million campaigns on the go
A real-time Cyberpunk game? Scratches head Pretty sure I already have that on my steam account. No boards, tiny cubes, counters, or cards. The computer takes care of all of that. The game plus expansion is $90. Before the board game delivers it will be on sale at probably 50% off at least twice. By May 2025, the discount might be higher. Got plenty of games in the cupboard.
Hey, Chris, great video as always!
At the moment, I’m passing on this one too. I don’t have many real-time games in my collection, especially in this genre. The closest I have is Werewords, which uses a timer, but since it’s more of a social game, the vibe feels completely different. So, I don’t have much to compare this to based on my past experiences. I guess I have 6:Siege, but I haven’t gotten it to the table yet and the timer is optional.
I do think this looks cool, but I worry that the real-time element might show its gimmicky face after a few plays. Also, I’ve been hesitant about campaign games lately. With so many games out there to explore, plus others in my backlog (and Earth Under Siege on the way—super excited for that!), it’s tough to commit a lot of time to just one game when free time is limited.
I’m still undecided but will probably pass—not because of the price or the gameplay, which seems fun, but because I don’t think I’d play it often enough to justify getting it. We’ll see!
Also, Chris, ngl, I came here totally expecting your “5 reasons hand” 🖐️ on the thumbnail to be a cyborg hand.
It just looks like any other dungeon crawler ever, so it's a hard pass for me.
Overall, I like a lot of what I see in this game, and this review helped , so thank you! For me, the cyberpunk theme here is mostly art, terminology, and a little bit of remotely opening doors and helping other players move. However, beyond that, I don't see much cyber in Cyberpunk 2077 since there is so much missing from the cyberpunk theme, such as elements found in William Gibson's novels, Neal Stephenson's Snow Crash, Tad Williams' Otherland series, and R. Talsorian's Cyberpunk RPG. I really want more "cyber."
However, I like what I see in production (although I may replace the enemy stands with metal (heavier) D6 bullet dice as the stands seem too fiddly). And, while I am, at best, indifferent to real-time games, I find the implementation in Cyberpunk 2077 intriguing.
So, I am thinking about pledging. It depends a lot on whether there is more cyber than I've noticed in reviews and playthroughs or whether I can figure out some house rules that may take into account such things as having a character work against obstacles in the matrix (black ICE, virtual guardians, etc.) in time to help other players accomplish mission objectives or gain advantages. Cyber enhancements/chrome between missions might also be nice to consider.
Or maybe I'll pledge just because it seems like a nice game … but more cyber would really help.
The top 3 for me 1-Cyberpunk Theme, 2- Solo but they are hiding how that works from the backers , 3- Campaign Game
Ok, 18:50 image in the back of the 4 skill shard markers. Me not knowing anything about what these do…why is "cool" red color and "body" blue color? "Cool" or cold, if thats what it means should always be blue. Red mean hot or health which could also more relate to body. Especially since its a real time game, this stand out to me as something that will be confusing in the beginning if this part is a real-time part of the game. Anyway, carry on and ignore me.
I backed this basically purely for the miniatures since as a warhammer player I enjoy painting those. If the game attached to these minis happens to be good win-win for me I guess. 😂
I feel like most people are begrudgingly backing this overpriced cashgrab because of the IP.
dont you ever back anything like never ever,, and remember if its exclusive its not essential 🙂 saves you alot of money, youre welcome 🙂
They ain’t uploading that solo playthrough brah.
You convinced me 5 minutes in to atay away by saying it's real-time 😂
Curious what campaign games you've been burned by that didn't really unlock more interesting/ complex content later on.
As far as I can tell the argument about second hand market ans price point never holds up to europe. Witcher old world deluxe core box 175€ and the standard version cheapest I found so far was 66€. Then you must hope for availability. No real reasons for not to back. But the other ones are things you should take into account.
I had backed but cancelled my pledge this morning. I decided the core real time mechanic wasnt working for me, nor characters able to do things they dont such as using hacks.
I feel the core loop just isnt deep enough to sustain a campaign. Peehaps it should have solely focused on the Afterlife and running jobs for fixers with charctera more true to the game amd have very clear roles to play instead of eveyone being a jack of all trades with 1 unique ability.
and another game out of my buy list, thank you hahaah
I pass on this one, not intrested at all…
They said that the timer is optional , you need to read the comments to see this
With the number of pieces I've been seeing in pictures, I'm surprised this is a real time game. Most real time games keep you only doing 1-2 repetitive tasks (Magic Maze gives you one direction, Escape gives you a fist of dice, Space Cadets gives you one role) but I'm seeing so many pieces that my brain doesn't feel like it wants to figure out how to do this in real time.
This is just a note since many seemed to pass on the game when they heard "real-time." Before You Play (BYP) has a nice YouTube tutorial and playthrough of Cyperpunk 2077, which demonstrates real-time play. I very rarely go for real-time games, but the implementation shown in the video looked clean and straightforward, which intrigued me and is one of the reasons I'm considering backing the campaign. Unless one is absolutely against real-time, the BYP video might be worth watching.
[I would include the BYP link, but every time I do, even to another YouTube video, YouTube deletes my comment and won't let me re-comment.]
