  1. 2023 has been a long year and there's still a month left. Tomorrow is my father's 88th birthday, he passed away last January. The occasion will be marked by burying his 4th son.
He had 5 sons, 3 are still alive. Son 1 passed away 2 years ago at 65 years old, son 2 is still going strong (for a 66 year old man), Sons 3 and 4 are/were twins. They are/were 63 years old. I'm son 5. I've gone around the sun 59 and 1/4 times.
I'm not looking for anything, I just need to vent.
I wish I was done with this fu€ked up year.
On the other hand, what horrors await in 2024?
I should just concentrate on service to my feline overlord.
Be sure you do the same for yours. My best to Rita. Have a better day today than I will. That won't be hard.

  2. It's possible I missed it, but I'm not sure where this idea that Reed has been any straighter with V than Songbird comes from. "Everything he's said has checked out…" Has it, though? Other than Myers, everyone who knew Reed has reacted with surprise that he was even still alive, much less in Dogtown, and almost all of what Reed told V has been a bunch of "no shit, there I was" campfire stories about events V wasn't around for and people he's mostly never heard of. He's a spy, which means him seeming trustworthy while lying to everyone is his whole job.

When it comes to actually working together, his record is precisely the same as Songbird's for leaving V in the lurch.

Songbird helped with a ton of locked doors and elevators when extracting Myers, and woke up a pre-war robot tank to mow down a bunch of Hansen's goons – but then mysteriously lost control of it just after it finished with the Barghest thugs, forcing V to take it down.
Reed helped V infiltrate Hansen's party, but when it came time to brain-scan the French programmers at the craps table – something he said he'd help with, and which was kind of important to the whole plan – Reed was mysteriously radio-silent and never showed, forcing V to handle the James Bond high-stakes casino scene solo.

Of course, they both have reasonable excuses. Songbird said she got booted from the robo-tank by an AI taking it over, and Reed had probably already been collared by Hansen's goons and had his comms jammed when V started chatting up the French hacker twins. But that doesn't change the fact that in both cases, Reed and Songbird each walked V into a risky situation and then vanished, leaving V holding the bag.

Point being, I don't trust Reed at all.

  3. The jinguji (the name of the department store) were places of worship that combined Shinto and Buddhist faiths, and almost all of them were destroyed as part of a Meiji-era policy that ordered the separation of Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples. It's… an interesting naming choice for a department store in this world, though I'm sure the creators had a few good reasons for it.

  4. I can already see where this is going….
Alex in the mission-briefing said that this AI they wanna capture, is intended to fix V and So Mi.
I'll hazard a guess that the AI can only cure one person. And since So Mi will be at the Black clinic where the Ripper will prototype the cure, it will just so happen that the cure works individually and thus V would've to be there as well…. Or something along these lines.

  5. Yeah . . . No! . . . You didn't get away with it Jingles. My wife is sitting here. In the chair next too me. Listening too your every word. She muttered something about a Sexist pig.
Or at least that is was what I got. In my interpretation. Of her Body language. and the Dirty look she gave me.
As for her verbal response. She said not all women are like that.

  6. Songbirds plan has something of the "Nigerian Prince" scam about it. You give me something and when everything is all sorted and I don't need you anymore, then I will 'remember' to contact you and give you your reward. So if you help Songbird and she gets 'cured' of her rogue AI issue, and then she's 'supposed' to contact you to get cured too? Once she doesn't need you anymore, when there are no consequences for her if she doesn't, then she holds up her end of the deal? Anyone believing that?

  7. Since the first moment I saw Reed I took him as a person I can always trust. He indeed is a man of his word and never failed to deliver what he promised and said. So yeah in my first playthrough I sided Reed, even though he is dumb in a way he is letting Myers fucking with him.
