We have a game that seems to veer between coming dangerously close to greatness, and making you wonder how exactly a game that has been eight years in the making can still feel so rushed and unfinished.
Maybe one day in the future, CD Projekt RED will put out a follow up that finally realizes the potential of this game – after all, the original Witcher was nowhere near the behemoth that The Witcher 3 ultimately became – but in the here and now, in spite of the expectation, the hype, and the promises, what we have is something that makes a lot of promises, and then ultimately fails to live up to most of them.
Version tested: PS4 version played on PS5 via backwards compatability.

The only people defending this game are cdprojecktred employees
-NPCs have atrocious AI and police spawn from thin air
-Driving feels tedious (you're either swerving or not turning)
-Phone calls you cannot ignore and that don't END
-Dialogue options are shallow
-Braindances are introduced and then left to dry with no real creativity or use
– Total of 2 joy toys (hookers) in the entire city
-No haircut customization
-Gangs are essentially cardboard stand ins and overall the city feels fucking empty.
-Crafting level requirement is not shown
-Mixing mechanics from other games that said games did much better
What the hell did CDPR do for 7 years? This game is a failure on so many levels, no amount of bug fixing will do shit.
even if they fixed the bugs, the game looks empty and dead
I’m surprised at the 6 score, but ok.
I wish this would’ve been reviewed on a PS4 or Pro since that is the console(s) for which this game was intended. I can’t help but wonder how that would have affected the score.
one time I tried to spawn my bike to my location and I literally watched it come down from the air and knock me down to the ground 😂
Xbox series x 26 hours so far one crash. F the game is beautiful and a load of fun with some bugs but still a lot of fun. Now for the worst game I’ve ever played for crashes is hands down call of duty Cold War. It’s so bad I fear it’s going to ruin my new Xbox so I just don’t play it anymore
Cyberpunk was meant to change the way games are made and stories are told but that throne will forever go to the last of us part 2.
The bugs dont bother me as much as how i feel the game is a letdown in general, since bugs can be fixed but a bad game cannot. Story is mediocre, same goes for sidemissons and other. The overall map design is just annoying, theres big walls and buildings often in your way, with no shortcuts, so even if you only need to travel a short distance you either need call the car or run all the way around. Looting system is boring, character customization, why? driving mechanics are shite (gta 5, a seven year old game has WAY better driving mecs) gun fights are ok but too simple. What can you do with the money you earn? buy another car? a slightly better weapon? .. 3.5/10 Overall. The graphics are good, i will give them that.
I miss the good old days when games were 100% complete when you bought them.
I think they put all their focus on the next gen consoles more than old gen and pc. I'm very fortunate that from 16hours of gameplay on series X I've only had around 4-5 minor glitches.
How many people are so fucking stupid. You play game on already old console or some shitty pc and then dissapointed game looks shitty. Take a fucking look at this game on new gen consoles or some good pc, it's fucking great. And bugs, don't worry they will fix them and this kind of video will be shit worth.
The driving is good? My driving experiance in the game has been horrible. It's like driving on ice. The third person view sits too low behind the vehicle so that you have a hard time seeing anything. You have to constantly move your eyes from the main screen to the mini map so that you don't miss a turn. This causes me eye muscle fatigue. I almost prefer to run around on foot than driving anything in the game.
Unplayable on ps4 pro. Don’t buy this on last gen consoles
How on earth has this game allowed to be released it needs another year minimum and maybe another 8 maximum before it is played by the public.
Um, these aren’t bugs. They’re features.
The tards who blindly throw money at pre orders and day 1 purchases are as much to blame as shady companies like EA, Activision, Bethesda and now cdpr.
No more Pre Orders.
Pretending it worked on a technical level, the only real complaint I have is the choices feel like they have no impact, like whatever happens afterword would've happened anyway which is the last thing you want to convey in a choice driven context. And it doesn't matter if a given choice is actually ignored or not as long as the illusion of consequence holds, through immediate feedback and acknowledgement of the specific choice made and 'remembering' and factoring in that choice going forward. Basically the explosion in complexity one would expect is so obviously truncated it's heavily immersion breaking for me. They really should've made some 'Alexa' like procedural dialogue engine if they were going to present that many choices to the player giving each play through's individual interactive npcs the opportunity to store dialogue/interaction state as part of the model itself, feeding into the procedural action decision tree. And I didn't have any idea there was so many choices presented to the player prior to playing, never played a CDPR game before so it wasn't a matter of my bubble bursting regarding player choice.
Its running fairly well on my 1X and im having a blast in Night City luckily …… I just turned my 1x from 4k to 1080p and in the game settings turned off film grain and chromatic aberration … Hope that helps somebody cuz there is an awesome fun game in there
Ah yes, that point-blank, a.i. deficient, but compelling gunplay.
Sorry..this was reviewed using a ps5?..nope ..it should've been reviewed on the console it was originally developed for..this review is not valid.
My disappointment are immeasurable, my day is ruined. 1/10
The witcher 3 bugs and all had me immediately. This one crashed three times on the pro within the first 5 hours. After the 1.04 patch its a bit better but still looks like a 360 ps3 era game. I'm surprised a studio like this let this slide, on purpose. Thanks cdpr for making console gamers have to wait until the new year for the finished copy. Oh ya, even on very hard the combat makes me feel like I'm cheating. Too easy, not balanced loot.
Im not gonna shit on people that defend the game because everyone's experience is different, but I'm also not gonna defend the game just because I had a good experience on a better console/ pc. This man reporting facts it is fun but you can not ignore the bullshit bugs and promises not being met.
The video games industry as a whole has been trending towards this kind of eventuality for years because increasing financial pressures and sales expectation deadlines with a boiling frog of acceptance from consumers/gamers.
i.e. post patching, unfinished games, online hooks for microtransactions, episodic gaming – "customer engagement", season pass/pre-orders, live services etc..
The game simply is unfinished for PC at best and is in alpha/beta stage for last gen consoles.
However the games industry as a whole will get worse, with the advent of 'Games as a service/subscription streaming' in that you will not own your games…on top of the aforementioned problems stated before.
Cyberprank 2020
This game does not even look that impressive to me. NO reason why this game perform so badly on consoles when we have other open world games like RDR2 that plays just fine.
Awesome
Yup good game underneath all the shit I think I’ll stop playing and wait till I get a ps5 it should be playable then….
Ubisoft fan: I'm disappointed of what was promised in the E3 2012 Watch Dogs trailer and what was delivered at launch!
CDPR fan: Hold my beer…
Cyberpunk 2077 being a pleb no flying cars :,( like a poor and sad version of japan.
Ps5 and consoles are trash, deal with it!
Yep, 2 hours in it crashed. The clipping, pop in, textures failing to load, buggy visuals, crappy footstep sounds are just inexcusable. Feels like I got robbed for $60.
My problem is that the NPC and bugs. Because NPC what makes the game more interesting whether if it is the city or interaction with the main character. I bought Cyberpunk and was deeply invested
When all the bugs are patched out this will be a great game. Im having a lot of fun as is. The bugs add a comedic effect to the game.
This game failing so miserable is an unexpected slap on the face to everyone. What a great year 😒
Cyberpunk makes me feel like this

Would be interesting to hear about an insider article about the development and what was scrapped during development. There are many parts where something obviously was not implemented (skytrains, nudity, driving ai, 6th skilltree – there is even a free slot in the UI)
“No man sky release 2.0”
Over hyped nonsense.. game is an amalgamation of gta, watchdogs, and the division under baked and shipped out in a deceptive way to the over the enthusiastic masses. Money makes the world go round and thats all that matters.
I hope this could be a good learning experience for CDPR, they're transitioning from an underdog to the top dog now and still have long ways to go
They said that unsatisfied customers can refund their copies, but actually neither Sony or CDPR are responding to refund requests.
Still the version most people aren't playing right now.
This game did fall victim to the hype surrounding it. I had such high expectations but playing this felt no different than any other RPG I've played before. It's a very fun game but nowhere near industry changing.
It’s pretty good to PS4 Pro. I mean it will crash here and there and the graphics do have that cardboard look when you move too fast through the city. But gameplay is awesome and it’s really fun. I’m an RPG man so I’ve been waiting for this.
The loot doesn’t seem that bad. It’s simple and to the point. The reason for loot is to craft so you can make money so you can sell the epic/rare gear you craft. It had a rocky launch but overall I love the game so far. I find myself doing melee attacks with a katana more than shooting.
Every skill in the game has a reason for being there. Are you sure you played the game my friend?
