2018 looks better, ray tracing destroy the vibe.
Overdrive obviously looks better, but they have different lighting and time of day which creates a completely different picture like in Dex's car.
Man you can’t beat that beta. I’d take atmosphere over graphics any day.

Overdrive is still is in beta people who are saying 2018 looks better are absolutely wrong the streets lighting geometry glass are much more realistic looking 2018 is just brighter in some spots that naturally don't make any sense in the car is probably were everyone was confused it looked worse because naturally people think dark is bad but that's just the engine doing path tracing they will probably fix the glasses and what ever once it's not in beta also I do prefer the color grading in 2018 way to saturated and contrasty but that can be fixed pretty easily
Beta had more convincing atmosphere, overdrive has organic lighting and shadow. Combine both, this already beautiful game will look like a masterpiece like RDR2
I wish graphics improvements aren't the only thing being focused on too much in games but also actually good gameplay and releasing a complete game at launch.

Overdrive is a great example of great lighting, but you can tell the game wasn't authored with that lighting in mind, so so many scenes are needlessly too dark
The older one has
– More bloom
– Better subsurface scattering (light bouncing inside skin)
– More volumetric fog
Thats pretty much it tho
They removed the car chase scene ?? lulw

Unless 2018 demo was an ultra scripted post processed GCized build, I'm wondering what hardware they've used back those days since it still looks better than maxed + RTX OD of a nowadays 4090.

The artstyle of the demo rly gives off that Cyberpunk dystopian future atmosphere. The Overdrive mode just looks realistic.
The 2018 demo has better atmosphere. It's all fake, but the city feels more lived in with more ads, more NPCs, more vehicles, and a greatest sense of "intractability." The Overdrive mode looks head and shoulders better, but the gameplay simply isnt there
Meredith's hair is the only think that looks better in the Demo lmao
