So today’s news about Cyberpunk 2077 has me somewhat excited but also very worried about the franchise overall. CD Projekt RED appears to be chasing multiplayer in all their games but it could also be their downfall if they are not careful…

  1. Elderscrolls and Fallout achieved the longevity in their games because of their modding communities. The one time Fallout delved into multiplayer it started out as a colossal cluster f**k (I'm sure we all remember).

Unless a games multiplayer is exceptionally good and memorable, it won't extend the life of a game. CDPR shouldn't be hedging their bets on multiplayer. They should look at repairing and building on their relationship with the Cyberpunk modding community.

  2. There's a good game here. If they wanted to take it online, I could think of worse companies to attempt it. I say let them do it. Let's see what comes out of it.

  3. I'd like a living world I can spend more time in. That can mean more bots and procedural content or it can mean other players. Single player game alone was great but after 200 hours and completing it a couple times, there's not much left to do.

  4. It might seem strange for someone who spent 12 years developing online multiplayer systems, but I have ZERO interest in online gaming and even less interest in multiplayer.
The long-term success of single-player games – well, we just saw the release of yet another Skyrim – 10 years. And the release of Mass Effect – again. So yeah, you can do it without online – It is (unfortunately, in my view) more profitable to do online.

  5. How in the world is they focus on online. When they haven’t got the single player down. Wow and ppl keep giving them a pass. Stop please stop this makes me more and more mad 😡

  6. Look I don't want to see multiplayer inside a punk The game is supposed to be single player Games are becoming too much like grand theft auto 5 online all they care about is making money not giving people the best quality of game Screw we buy these games and why should we have multiplayer when We don't even ask for it

  7. Remember the Trailer? The one where V already has Mantis Blades and attacks a the traitor Dex? My thought was there was a way (Obviously before playing the game and before I knew about the story) that Jackie would remain part of the story if there was a way for him to survive, because what if the game could be Co-op via a player joining your playthrough as Jackie. The entire game would be completely different and a whole new kind of interesting. Like the same way Ghost Recon had players join a host's singleplayer progress kind of. That was my earliest idea for the game long before it released that I made a personal what-if theory out of. Maybe even a separate and alternate side of the game designed for co-op I guess. I feel like everyone that played Cyberpunk and enjoyed it felt a connection to Jackie regardless if life-path choice, and I always wondered what the story would be like if Jackie hadn't died. Interesting.

  8. I think online play is low hanging fruit for a game developer. Bethesda has shown that a good game game last years and still just be a single player game. CP77 would benefit from official mod support which is why Skyrim and Fallout 4 are still popular.

  9. They couldn't build a single player game that actually works, multiplayer would be a mess.
Plus what's up with the comment about needing multy to be successful long term? The Witcher 3 is successful long term, not only that but it launched them to the favorite studio of gamers (kinda undeserving).
This is one weird studio. You never know what they'd do or say.

  10. unfinished work, not able to fix broken mechanics, adding in multiplayer, and worrying about the future, this right here is why i have a hard time believing anything they say, and that is on top of the horrendous launch, i do not see this game ever getting fixed but the only way we will know for sure if they are going to be able to fix this game is the 2022 patch and how that goes.

  11. Multiplayer heist will be hollow if there is no braindance. They need to make braindance useable outside the story and it is an essential tool to plan out or test run any heist.

  12. im skeptical about the game just having a deathmatch mode considering how some character builds might just oblierate someone elses. like if someone just liked using guns but their opponent had camo skin and legendary mantis blades. i guess im just concerned about how balanced it's gonna be

  13. The Witcher 3 expansions were amazing games in their own right. Who can forget Gaunter O'Dimm, one of the best bad guys I've enjoyed in a game. That's the kind of expansion I think a lot of us have been anitcipating. Personally I'm not into MP at all, I had a go at Warzone solo and it was sort of fun, but I'm really a solo player and mostly played that on my own too.

  14. They really need to create a multiplayer VR version of this game. It totally fits the whole futuristic cyberpunk feeling of the game, where we're all connected to this Matrix with VR headsets. It just fits the theme of this game so well.

  15. Today's news: cyberpunk is still buggy AF, cyberpunk is still broken AF, cyberpunk in s still unplayable AF, cyberpunk is still not fixed and no one even knows if the next gen update/upgrade is even gonna fix cyberpunk if at all, cyberpunk is still a scam product that helped EAprojectred commit theft on 8 million plus people on launch day, cyberpunk is still not finished, cyberpunk is still not done, cyberpunk is still not complete, and yet EAprojectred is still thinking about "moving on to their next expansion/project for cyberpunk" when EAprojectred hasn't addressed ANY of the issues/fixed ANY of the issues with their CURRENT TITLE/PROJECT THAT ONCE AGAIN IS STILL BUGGY, BROKEN AND UNPLAYABLE, UNFINISHED/NOT COMPLETE OR FIXED AF!!! EAprojectred "moving on" to ANYTHING is Unquestionably undeniably unchallengeably UNACCEPTABLE until cyberpunk 2077 is ACTUALLY FINISHED/DONE/COMPLETE/NO MORE BUGS/NO LONGER BROKEN/IS ACTUALLY PLAYABLE AND ABOVE ALL IS ACTUALLY WHAT WAS PROMISED TO THE FANS/CUSTOMERS!!! until that's all actually addressed and actually taken care of "moving on" to ANYTHING for EAprojectred should be a complete and total and utter NO GO/BIG RED LIGHT for EAprojectred. fix your game, get rid of all the bugs, unbreak the game, make the game completely and totally actually playable, actually finish and complete and make cyberpunk 2077 everything you promised your customers/fans cyberpunk 2077 was going to be. Until then "moving on" to ANYTHING including an "expansion is and should be a big fat ABSOLUTELY NOT across the board. actually finish/actually complete/actually keep your promises to your fans/customers, then and ONLY then can we discuss/green light "moving on to ANYTHING EAprojectred.

  16. I would rather see CP2077 achieve longevity like FO4 and Skyrim instead of RDR2 and GTA, ie. from modding support, not online. If the game is easy to mod and has potential then the community will keep your game alive for you. There's a lot of talented people out there who will add everything CDPR never did. Building multiplayer isn't guaranteed to be fun, is not CDPR's strength and is a massive effort.

  17. something as simple as the ridiculous cars and objects physics still not solved , it's terrible when you car jump over people like it is 10 kg , the shadow for the hairs no showing ! WTF …. no customization in game about player apparence, vehicles diversity is bad , no flying machines, no metro , no bus … this game need to change those things before talking about useless multiplayer

  18. Business-wise, yes, online is necessary for long-term success. But from a gamer's standpoint, it should not come at the cost of the single player features being scrapped.

  19. Cdpr is playing the long game. Game has been out a year and has done little whilst remaining relevant. Well at least to me. Night City is huge. Fill it. No need for a sequel. Fix what’s broken and build on what you have if possible. Would be nice to see flying vehicles as a thing in this game. Hopefully it can be pulled off.

  20. I wanted this game but said nah after the horrible release and I still haven't heard that they have even fixed what was wrong with it so I'm staying clear from this game
