As someone who knows little about achitecture but always appreciates it, I really enjoyed this video. It's nice to learn about the who's, the what's the where's and the why's and as someone who is absolutely in love with Night City, I'm hoping for a follow up. Hint hint. 😉
Like many others have said, make more of this man!
Cyberpunk reminds me of Star Citizen, except it's more like v0.9 compared to Star Citizen sitting at v0.2.
kitchen, rlly? I feel like after a long day where you eat outside also, you come back put ur guns down you can ve some snacks before goin to bed while relaxing an hour on sofa or comp place then you jump to bed, next day you take ur guns and go out, thats the purpose of this apt. There r some mansions over buildings, they ve kitchens. those ppl r rich, ve time or guests and meetings and shiat..
Knowing what that luxury apartment to the right out of V's Window actually is makes this even better 🙂
Do you have any experience with transport systems and architecture? That would be interesting watch.
That super high end apartment is V's mansion. You can get to it trough some trickery, or see it in one of the endings. Has lots of things you can get from it. It is tricky to get out of but can be done. Seems like it was part of a story arc they cut out.
Would love for you to do more architect reviews on more areas and buildings of Night City
11:33 Not to be pedantic, but I hate it when people use the word feudalist or feudalism to mean financial inequality instead of multi-level vassalage.
As always great insight. I always feel like I learned something watching your videos.
I certainly enjoy your Star Citizen videos, as it was what moved me to sub in the first place, but I would totally dig seeing you review architecture in other games as well!
Nightcity is gorgeous. I have 70 hours in the game and still finding little details and references. Do more of these.
IIt was amazing video but shooooooooooooooooooooor. finaly i was hooked in and you said "thak you guys" an di was like "whaaaaat?" 😀
Amazing as always. For me. I would be happy to see much more! 🙂
Looking at the mega buildings in night city, I have always wanted to know what it would take to build something like that today. What technologies and techniques would be required to produce a structure like a megablock or other giant building.
I really like your reviews/breakdowns.
Well in comparison with Scam Citizen , both are full of glitches bugs and missing features so you are going to feel at home.
Yes!!! Thank you so much for this, really needed to hear your perspective of Night City, because I’m in love with it and can’t get enough of driving around and explore all of it. Never before have I been that excited about a fictional city before. 👏✨
Don't know if someone already mentioned it here. But I believe that the "super high-end apartment" at 6:13 is actually where V will move at the end of the game if you choose to be a NC legend.
I would love a video game in a solarpunk environment… I have a question for you Morphologis : what's your opinion on the work of Zaha Hadid ?
Would be happy to see more An Architect Reviews for Cyberpunk or any other game with something interesting to discuss! 🙂
The appartment of V should be the same size Bruce Willis got in the 5th Element (or even smaller). What I find very strange is how CDPR change all the layout of NC in comparison with the pnp roleplaying game. NC layout is a square layout like in all new cities. It make no sense, even with the nuke which destroy the city center, you won't rebuild and replace everything, like placing buildings upon former roads and the contrary. The topography is strange too. There are no canals in NC, rather 2 bays, one in the north and one in the south. The terrain is flat along the coast and going up on hills when going further inland. Just like LA which actually is not far south. The buildings look great but all those change make no sense in my opinion because they don't bring anything else to what was already there. Actually, it takes to some people like me who knows NC for the past 2 decades… I was anticipating to visit a place I know from books, and all I got is a hell of a mess where I can't recognized anything (not even the road layout) and I always get lost… It sometimes got a vibe of Novigrad to me with stairs everywhere and change of height on the ground level every 100 meters.
If you want to see what NC should look like, here one of the best picture: http://datafortress2020.com/fileproject/data/media/40/Cyberpunk%202020%20-%20Map%20-%20Net%20-%20Greater%20Night%20City%20Metro%20Map%20by%20Mark%20Cook.gif
Cheers
Going to wait until the game is down to about 15 bucks in a few years, then pick it up for the sole purpose of walking around on the map and enjoying it.
Really enjoyed this video! I hope to see videos on specific areas like Pacifica, my favorite area in that game. I find it to be very different from the others. thanks for this vid
This is a very interesting overview about the world of architecture and Cyberpunk. Nice aspect about this two things, tank you!!!
Thees an elevator in the advocate Hotell near Metro:Congress and MLK in Vista Del ray. an elevator that goes to the roof!
I find it very interesting how that high end penthouse visible from V's apartment happens to be the penthouse [spoilers]
he ends up owning if you get the "Legend of the Afterlife" ending
CP 2077 architect series? Please? I'd love to hear you delve into each district and distance buildings in this world.
The reason there is no kitchenette or eating nook is because most people in cyberpunks setting eat "kibble" on a regular basis, if they are lucky. Kibble is essentially chemically enriched flavoured dry dog food for humans. Most people eat 'food' on the go from vending machines or street vendors selling 'meat' (don't do it unless it's soy based, just don't). An apartment with a view would be considered fancy and unnecessary except for a corpo execs pad. The fact that V even has an apartment so he doesn't live on The Street puts him in the upper lower class. There's no middle class in the Dark Future; you either are a 'have' or you're not. There's plenty of hints to the lore in the game that explain this and reference the tabletop, which is even more grim.
