How Far Away Is Cyberpunk 2077?

The reception for Cyberpunk 2077 hasn’t been great. Many gamers are unhappy with all the bugs and glitches, saying the game is pretty much unplayable on last gen consoles. While the state of the game right now is bad, I trust that CD Projekt Red will pull a No Man’s Sky and make the game up to their standards with patches over the next few months. While the question “how far away is Cyberpunk 2077 for being playable?” is completely valid, I’ll be looking at how close our world is to becoming like the one in the game. It turns out that we could very well end up living in a world sharing similarities with Cyberpunk 2077.

Humans are getting microchipped right now in 2020, specifically in Sweden. A few thousand Swedes are putting microchips in their hands, but not for the reasons you might think. It’s all in an attempt to make their daily routines easier, not to turn them into cybernetically enhanced humans. If you think about it, getting cybernetic enhancements opens up a whole slew of problems. It could turn our world into a real life version of the Marvel or DC Universe, with superheroes and supervillains around every corner. That sounds awesome, but is it really?

There’s more to our future than just that so enjoy the video, let me know if you think our future looks like Cyberpunk 2077 in the comments section below and don’t forget to subscribe to The Gamer for more gaming content.

  1. Honestly, it may not be as unrealistic as the creator of this video claims, where yes, it may seem farfetched, but tech is advancing at such an insane rate that what we think unlikely now or think will take decades may very well happen within 2-6 years from this comment if not sooner.

  2. This dude has WAAAY too much faith in humans and the government. “It won’t be used to track your location” the USA openly doing literally exactly that with phones and internet usage 😶

  3. I don’t really agree with the idea that humans being augmented similar to cyberpunk by 2070’s wouldn’t be realistic simply bc “that would just be real life comic book hero level power and that’s stupid”. The tech we have today up against even like, the Spartans, would make us look like beyond gods. I think the scale of power of the average person is SOMEWHAT on par with reality of that time, but then again I’m no scientist or statistician or fortune reader and this is a fictional universe. Now would we have sandevistans, rocket hands and double jump feet boosters? That’s a lot more debatable.

  4. 3:00 it’s not the last major city, it’s one of the last major cities that has a lot of freedom from the government, that’s why so many people and Corpos flock to it. Funny part is that the government is shadow controlled by corpos

  5. I thought of a supernatural more natural and humane hard to destroy or hard to melt rubberised silicon brain that has transfered in to it our lovely memories or rebel nature using a hive Mind insect antenna that queen ants have to communicate telepathically. I hope my idea helps with ending the threat of diseases that cause memory loss.

  6. lol just now watching this video and tbh I think this guy over estimates humanity lol. This future is seeming more and more likely as far as corporations taking over. Robotic enhancement on this scale is still not likely in my opinion

  7. If Im still alive I will be 80 years old in 2077. I have a feeling I'll be dead before I turn 80years old. People that turn 80 are lucky cause most don't make it there, mainly because of cancer. Im 27 right now and don't have a job, my parents take care of me. Its hard working for me cause Im not that smart. So if I did make it to 80 I would try to get arrested by the cops, cause in prison they feed you free food. I could only survive in prison, If I became homeless I would die of starvation cause I can't find a job easy for me to do sadly.

  8. Haha yeah CP77 was awful when it first came out, how original, pipin' hot take xD… 'Cept now it's legit one of the best games ever made, and was almost entirely as good as it was when I first played it thinking it was supposed to be trash when this video came out… I hope people are giving it a shot rather than still believing it's awful. I only played it two years ago because I wanted a hateplay for a drunk laffs night, I didn't know CDPR had busted ass and made it this amazing.

  9. The guy who posted this video is an idiot and has no idea what he is talking about. Elon musk invented nurallink that lets you control computers with you mind and take any machine over. Idiots like this who don’t even know real cyberpunk is needs to shut up

  10. Dude you are soooo wrong on so many levels lmao. You should probably dive more into today's world of cybersecurity and tech as a whole. We already all have microchips, some carry them in their pockets, some few in their hands. Everything they can scan in Cyberpunk is actually doable via your phone or sim, you name, your gender, sexual preference, health information, where and what you eat, and so much more is logged in your google account stored in each of our phone. You sim and can already be tracked, listenened to and hacked just the way cyberpunk show, the US does not shy away from spying on you. Cyber implants are already used to give back hearing, vision and limbs. While still not widely accessible, primitive version of what we find in cyberpunk are used everyday. In 2024, we even officially saw the first robot dog launched and used in warfare. The only if we will encounter towards that cyberpunk future is are we going to let capitalism currupt this as much as it is in cyberpunk or are we going to have legislation to prevent such tragic fate (i'm betting in like 5 years neuralink user will have ads played in their head unless they pay a subscription xd)

Have a long read on the laws of accelerating return, it's almost sary when you apply this to today's technology

  11. Correct me if im wrong but night city is the result of communism in the lore isnt it? So is that a big enough shake up for you? 😂
Because were scarily close to communism winning lately and if it does right as elons nerolink explodes into an entiely new tech age like the iphone did than i coulf easily seeing us living inna dystopian future where the rich are so rich they can just ignore our petty sqaubbles, which leads to us learning how to use elons new tech and creating underground ripper shops where you go if you wanna make a name for yourself.
    Its very plausible tbh.
